www.sofmilitary.co.uk do a great mechanics sweater.
Although, personally, I prefer the M1905 below:
It has a very vintage feel to the material, is very warm and fits nicely under my Aero for colder biking days.
Dave
Jeep, Silvermans stock the International jacket and trousers. Yep, they are still made. www.silvermans.co.uk Silvermans are anything but cheap mind you !!
I use a black International suit on my Kawasaki W650 as well as having a spare suit in the green-ish colour that was used by the...
Personally I think FQHH is way too heavy for a lady to wear. It's a heavy jacket !
I'm in discussions with Aero about a russett goat Half-belt long. It'll be ideal for my dear wife when she's pillion on my bike.
Dave
I've had several Aeros in the past and have to say for myself that the tartan lining has worked best for me.
Less bulky and less grippy and less warm. The latter allowing me to wear my jacket for longer in the year than otherwise.
I also never have storn cuffs. They bulk up the cuffs and...
Hi All,
I have several of the WW2 windproofs currently and have had many more over the years that got used up and binned.
The ones I have currently include a genuine WW2 khaki one,
genuine WW2 camo one (no zipper) and a post WW2 green ventile type one with original label and definately issued...
I have to agree with the idea of a Bootlegger or half belt being best for a woman's figure. An A-1 or A-2 doesn't look right on someoone with a waist and hips IMHO.
The cinching at waist level pulling in the jacket to accentuate a woman's waist is perfect for me !! Goatskin in a russett...
On the subject -ish ......
Anyone know of a current maker of the old motocross jeans ? You know : the ones with the hip padding and padded knee cups.
I'd love to get a pair of those :)
Dave
'Invisible on Everest' has been covered elsewhere on FL and is a very interesting book.
Certainly the old ways of dressing were very efficient and tweeds were NOT worn on the ascent !!
Rob, if you can get a down vest on under your Aero then you are a better man than I !! In the UK I find...
Yep, the photobucket ones are definately a Coat, Tropal.
The other one could be a French version looking at the type of liner. Probably post WW2.
I'd stick with the one you have received. Nice coat !!
Dave
Thje cut and collar make me think it's a 'Coat, Tropal' which was a cold weather kapok lined coat that also found favour with the LRDG in the North African deserts during WW2.
However, these were a very bulky jacket and this doesn't look that bulky. They were also khaki.
This could be one...
I concur with Paj
Paj is right on this. Due to the oils in the Aero FQHH, it gets VERY stiff in colder weather. Also, unless it is extremely loose fitting (to the point it would be too baggy to wear ), putting that many layers on will further reduce your mobility.
Take a down jacket with...
W650 The 'Dub'.
I've only had this Dub for a few months but love it. She rides sweet as a nut but there's a few things I have planned for this winter to get her to where I'll be totally happy with her.
First off I'm going to get some smaller but brighter indicators / signals fitted...
I would say so Edward. Although (and I stand to be corrected on this) I believe that some other countries in europe and a number of states across 'The pond' do allow them.
To me the most vulnerable part of the top of the spine has no protection and that's the problem. Nor is the lining as...
I might've known .......
Hey Paj,
I mighta known you'd be like me and have nothing better to do with your working hours than frequent here lol
Would like to argue with your logic re my thicj skull but you can't argue with the truth.
I got the jacket yesterday BTW. It's...
Personal freedom
Hi Edward,
Fair question. My rationale is as follows:
A white helmet reduces the chance of an accident by 24% Bonus ! :)
I pick where I ride and when. The bike is a toy if you will. I don't intentionally ride in the rain any more. And never in icey weather / winter...
Aye
Aye Sir, it is indeed a W650. A truly great bike.
Helmet is a Bell RT, goggles are Davida T2s and the jacket is also by Davida but about 3 sizes too big ! Boots are period Lewis Leathers ones.
I also use original period Everoak helmets on occasion.
Dave
Thanks
If it were a goatskin one I could almost be tempted but I'm really looking for a jacket for my motorcycling.
Thanks anyways and good luck selling it.
Dave
Looking for an Aero jacket of either horse or goat, size 46". Any condition.
UK based but will pay long distance shipping for right jacket so don't let your location or mine put you off !
:)

Advice
I would recommend you at least think about buying an ELC one as it's a lot easier to return it for a change of size or refund if it doesn't fit.
Prices are comparable and to my eye there is no discernable difference in quality.
I have an ELC B-10 and B-15. They are outstanding...
