Thanks for this! Excellent to know. I was leaning toward buffalo but may have to reconsider seeing yours!
The buffalo is also great(so is all the leathers I've tried form Theo, cow, goat and buffalo) and depending on how you like your jackets to feel(stiffer vs softer for example) both are world class leather!

Example how the cocoa buffalo looks(kind ****ty picture sorry, but the rolls you get from buffalo is amazing):

I've personally been enjoying a bit thinner and more supple leathers lately and so I've been going more and more goat leather but in the end you can't go wrong with any of them :)

@trad_style I LOVE that suit mate! and combining it with those suede loafers looks bang on :D very nice outfit mate!

ps. would love to know what the maker of those loafers are, they do look stunning!

So good I appreciate the pic -- cocoa buffalo was the one I was planning on. Love those rolls. How much more stiff do you find the buffalo to be vs. the goat? I'm definitely not looking for my thedi to be as heavy as a thicker horsehide, for example

The buffalo is noticeable stiffer, not as thick/heavy as CXLFQHH for example but it does wear a lot like horse imo.

Would also give a huge thumbs up for the "kingdom leather" from cow he uses(or used at least, don't know if he stills offers it).
Super nice and supple leather that wears amazing, but it lacks a bit of the "character" you get form the goat & buffalo leather.

Sorry for going a bit off topic folks :p

Cheers!

@bobjones A brown(or black), straight zipped, good quality, well fitting leather jacket is hard to beat! just a classy and clean look that works every time :D very nice mate

Cheers!
Thank you!

I think the "civilian" Schotts are a hidden gem that many overlook - everyone's focused on the Perfecto motos which I respect and understand the attention, but the civilian patterns are sophisticated and well-designed.

They don't have the flaws I see in some other makers' product, like boxiness, low armholes that cause the jacket to lift way up when you raise your arms, longer length so that the jacket's lining won't get chopped up by a belt, etc. There are a ton of civilian pattern choices there for any body size or shape, it just comes down to what style, hide and weight one is looking for.

Is the leather waterproof ?
I would think there is no such thing as a waterproof leather jacket, but I'm all for being proved wrong :p
The jacket in question is from goat, and I've worn it in the rain/snow quite the few times and nothing bad has showed up, but I wouldn't call it waterproof.

@bobjones You can tell Schott are one of the OGs and been around for a while with how well their patterns fits, same thing with Vanson :)

Only thing I don't really like is the longer body length nowadays on many of their models, but that's just my personal opinion(a lot of people seems to like their jackets a bit longer, but I usually tuck my tees so I like em' short :D).
In terms of movement and comfort while still looking well fitted and being available off the rack, Schott's up there with the best of em.

Speaking of non perfecto Schott's, I've been eyeing the beautiful 370/"Duke" jacket in rough out leather after seeing it being worn by the very stylish gentleman @X83 :D

Cheers!

They do have some shorter pieces like the Storm 673 which is a heavyweight hide with a wool lining, made for rather colder days/winter.

I suspect the longer lengths are because people are not tucking their shirts/t-shirts very much any more, an action as a chunky older guy I can understand :)

Keep in mind a 26/27 inch length that runs past your belt a bit will protect the jacket lining from getting chewed up by the belt. I had to have Aero do a lining repair on my Highwayman for that reason, and added a corduroy protector on the bottom few inches of the jacket hem.

The Duke 370 and its cousins the 371, 375, etc are all amazing and worth a look. Bespoke Post has a collab version of the 375 which is a bit less expensive than the one directly from Schott, and is the one I purchased recently. X83 would make wearing anything stylish, he's a hard act to follow :)

Schott did add a new jacket, the P266, which is a bit shorter and while it is lamb it has a roughed-up/worn-in look as the website pictures show.

My only Aero in my collection now.
I have had and sold others over the years.
This Highwayman blue label came to me lightly used from Russia quite some time back. Brown steer.
My "best smeller" haha..
Excuse the untucked shirt.
Camouflage for the 67 year old midriff.
Not my best fitting jacket, a Highwayman near constant I reckon !

Don't usually wear leather to work (I'm a high school teacher), but I decided to wear a Taubers steehide cafe racer today. Interestingly, I got more comments today, whether good or bad as follows:

1. Sir, you look good today (student)
2. All I can think of is Greased Lightnin' (teacher)
3. Sir, do you ride motorcycles? (student)
4. Sir, you look like someone who's committed a few misdemeanours (student).
