What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

I would think there is no such thing as a waterproof leather jacket, but I'm all for being proved wrong :p
The jacket in question is from goat, and I've worn it in the rain/snow quite the few times and nothing bad has showed up, but I wouldn't call it waterproof.

@bobjones You can tell Schott are one of the OGs and been around for a while with how well their patterns fits, same thing with Vanson :)

Only thing I don't really like is the longer body length nowadays on many of their models, but that's just my personal opinion(a lot of people seems to like their jackets a bit longer, but I usually tuck my tees so I like em' short :D).
In terms of movement and comfort while still looking well fitted and being available off the rack, Schott's up there with the best of em.

Speaking of non perfecto Schott's, I've been eyeing the beautiful 370/"Duke" jacket in rough out leather after seeing it being worn by the very stylish gentleman @X83 :D

Cheers!

Water does not go through my CXL jackets and some good veg goat ones.

I am double dipping this photo here and in the hat section, but I want to give end-of-summer kudos to this Bronson summer flight jacket.

I have worn this thing hard all season and it has held up smartly. In at-shirt, it is comfortable up to around 95 degrees depending on the humidity. It offers great sun protection (which is a must for my line of work) and a place to store my odds and ends (especially my cell phone). Plus it is super fun to wear in the non-leather months. It is also easy to machine wash and dry!

This one will definitely last one more summer at least. A good deal at the price Bronson asks for them.

Water doe not go through CXL also some veg goat.

It does, just not right away. CXL will get drenched just like any other leather. Water especially goes through goatskin as goatskin is significantly more porous than cowhide or horsehide, just that goatskin handles it best and is least affected by it. What makes goatskin dry for a bit longer is lanolin which you can apply to cowhide and horsehide to gain some more time in the rain.

But there is no waterproof leather. Just like with anything in life, it is just a little bit of time that you have before you start going under. . .

I sat in pouring rain for four hours at an NFL game in my goatskin LL Bean flight jacket. It’s the only time it ever soaked through. It also has virtually no patina after 42 years.
