Hi everyone,
I’m considering buying this Aero 1930s Half Belt in Cordovan CXFQHH, size 48:
https://www.aeroleatherclothing.com/stock/1930s-half-belt--cxfqhh--cordovan--48----s-6912/s-6912
I currently own a size 48 Hooch Hauler in Brown CXFQHH. I really like how it looks on me, but after wearing it for a while, I’ve noticed that it feels a little restrictive across my lats and upper back, especially when sitting, driving, or reaching forward. It is comfortable with a shirt, but layering anything heavier underneath is difficult.
My Hooch Hauler measures approximately:
Pit to pit: 63 cm / 24.8" ~
Shoulders: 19.5"
Sleeves: 26.5"
Back length: 26.25"
Hem: 23"
The stock 1930s Half Belt measures:
Pit to pit: 26"
Shoulders: 19.25"
Sleeves: 26.75"
Back length: 26.5"
Hem: 24"
For reference, I’m 190 cm / 6'3" and around 107 kg / 236 lb. My relaxed chest measurement is approximately 117 cm / 46.1", and it expands to around 120 cm / 47.2". With an undershirt, shirt, and a light wool layer, my chest measures approximately 119-122.5 cm / 46.9-48.2".
My main concern is that the Half Belt has a noticeably larger pit-to-pit measurement than my Hooch Hauler, but the shoulders are actually slightly narrower.
I’m worried that it could still feel tight across my shoulders, upper back, or lats while being too roomy through the body. I also don’t want a lot of empty space or excessive folding through the front.
At the same time, my Hooch Hauler is already a little too restrictive for layering, so the extra room in the Half Belt might be exactly what I need.
For anyone who has experience with both the Hooch Hauler and the standard 1930s Half Belt:
Does the Half Belt usually provide more room across the upper back and lats?
Would the 26" pit-to-pit look too loose on me, or would it give me a comfortable classic fit?
what do you think?
I’ve attached photos showing the fit of my current Hooch Hauler, along with a few photos showing how I measured it.
Thanks in advance.
