I think I would go along with their suggestions on the things to go with/compliment your cap.

Giant Pith Helmet Thread of Doom

Try the Sportsman's Warehouse , Brigade Quartermaster, or Cheaper-than-dirt.com for on line sources. Sometimes the Army-Navy surplus stores have them

    Hot Weather Hats

I picked up a cheap mesh crown, solid fabric top, fedora style with a fairly large brim at Tractor Supply for something like 12-15 dollars for yard work. Mesh is a very open nylon or some other synthetic that lets air flow very well, so it seems as though each movement of my head creats a breeze.

    We've all lost our minds

That is exactly the day I prefer to wear leather soled shoes. If I wear rubber soled Rockports and walk onto the polished floors in our hospital, it's slip and slide until the soles dry. Leather seems to give a much better grip , eliminating the slipping!

    Straw hat ribbons

I ordered a Panama from PanamaBob last winter and it's nice. Had I known that Art does Panama's also I would have ordered from him for a better fit. Of course hindsight is always 20/20, but there is the next time. Jeff

Is a light weight felt OK for summer?

I like my straws but got an Akruba (sp) Territory because of large brim and large vent grommets. I'll have to wait and see how well it works in hot weather. For a lot of yard work I wear a surplus pith helmet that has the suspension system to hold everything but the sweatband away from your head.

Any Good Hat Shops In Atlanta?

I do not think you shall have much luck in Macon. My wife is from there and we do not remember seeing any clothing stores that carry good hats. Augusta may be a option, having a class event like the Masters, but really do not know. Jeff

white gas or denatured alcohol ? NOW WITH BEFORE & AFTER PHOTOS!

What about acetone, or xylene? Both are excellent solvents. Acetone evaporates very fast. Xylene is a component of many " carburator, fuel injector cleaners" so will remove a lot of gums and tarry stains. With either acetone or lacquer thinner you must be careful of synthetics such as...

    Cowboy hats - opinions?

Methinks if you were to look around this great country, you would find "real cowboys" in places you never dreamed. Florida has a huge cattle industry, hence cowboys. A few years ago I stayed with some real cowboys in west central Mississippi in the dead of winter. When one very cold, wet...

"Take your hats off, you are indoors".

All I ever new was AFR35-10. As an active duty officer for 10 years, then reserve for another 7 with a long break, I hated to see the demise of the 1505 uniform. Back in late 70's we started having problems with some of the airmen, I was in medics, trying to get away with improper headgear...

Those with a modern Stetson and modern Akubra - sizing help/comparison?

I just received an Akubra Territory (a large brimmed hat for summer) in a size 58. It fits and feels about like my Stetson in7 1/4 LO., that is to say it feels good.
