I live in a ugh, dry county, so have to go about 35 miles to find a good store with a moderate selection. For domestic I like our Shiner Bock, and Samuel Adams.
Newcastle brown ale is one always grab when I can find it.
35 years ago when a young AF officer stationed in Turkey, we drank...
I agree about color. The best thing I have found for the hot summer days here are some of the cheaper mesh side hats. I have a couple of fabric mesh jobs from Tractor Supply, and an outbackish leather/mesh from Minnokotka(sp). When I walk they seem to intensify a feeling of a breeze across...
I just received my Metropolitan clone courtesy of Art Fawcett. Looks great fits good( it should) and although a bit more pricey, I knew what I was getting quality wise.
I agree with Dr Greg. Having spent a long time in the Air Force as a medical officer I did learn that helments are designed to protect the head and not necessarily be stylish. Consider a hard hat a helment and go for maximum protection.
I would wear it and not worry. I worried at first about how I looked and what others thought, but now do not care. I wear what I like, and I do like that one. I do like the thin ribbions, my first VS is a thin ribbon, and I think the third will be one also, maybe that's because that is the...
I have a couple of the Banjo Patterson models. The charcoal I do not care so much about, but the fawn color is nice and it gets a lot of wear. Size and shape are nice and the fish skin hatband looks classy. My bad weather model is the "Territory" which has I think a 4 or 4+" brim. It looks...
I have one called a "pith" helmet. It's an old surplus GI model, I think really a dense cardboard but covered with Kahaki twill on outside and a green on underside brim and inside crown. It has a suspension type sweatband, lace adjustable and is really comfortable for outside work on a hot day.
7 1/4 LO and a 12 A shoe!
Shoes are hard to find, I found a small store in N Miss. where I can get Allen Edmonds, expensive but they last well, and have been getting some casual types custom made by Russell Moccasin.
For a temporary measure, I bought several of those thin metal over the door wreath hangers from the Christmas decorations accessories last Nov. They work great and at least give me a place to hang a few without holes in walls ect and give me time to think about a better solution. Actually in...
I started with Fedora types by using Tilley's a couple of summers ago. They really are good summer hats and I do like that green underside of the brim.
I have several styles from that white hemp model with the 4' brim to one that is more of a classic Fedora with mesh sides.
It's strange...
I grew up in N Louisiana, first I can remember was Audrey in '57 when I was in 6 th grade. Long dry spell then a couple blew through while I was in college and I remember dodging flooded streets, wading to class ect, and of course all the downed trees. That far north we did not get the full...
In a well sealed bag, moth balls or crystals would kill most insects, mites ect.
As far as bacteria, I do not know, but think they generally would not be a problem.
The ringworm is caused by a fungus. Fungal spores can live for years, then when they get the correct growth media ( your...
We even had a trace here in E. Texas, mixed with sleet and rain. The ground was too warm for it to accumulate, but my deck was dusted with a light coat most of Friday, and Saturday morning.
The hat felt mighty good on my balding head, I'm getting to the point where I don't step out the...
Yep, I spent two years in Turkey back in the early 70's and never saw a fez, but lots of fedoras.
I was either wearing my AF hat or a western type straw at the time.
Nice looking hat. Santa visited in a way when my wife saw me looking at pictures and said to order another. I have an Adventurebilt on order, should have been here, but there is something going on to confuse the order, It's been 14 months and I want to see how it looks and feels before...
Nice, I like the houndstooth.
I picked up a nice one about 17 years ago, time flies, at the Cotswold woolen weavers in Filkins. I was over there manning a USAF contingency hospital during Desert storm, at a place called Little Rissington. Beautiful country.
My cap of course is wool and...
Have not been to Egypt, but made a tour to Israel about that time of year when I was stationed in Turkey while active duty in the USAF.
The days could get rather warm, but the nights could be freezing in the higher elevations( Jerusalem) or nice in lower areas as such as Tiberas or Joppa...
