All of the hats I have purchased regardless of the source have liners, and for similar grade hats felt seems to be the same.
Read the specs, and if you have any questions call or e mail the supplier.
I ordered my first Banjo Patterson from Noggintops and cannot see any difference in quality...
Quite frankly, I'll take a good scotch with anything, and only wish I could find some armagnac locally. Everytime I ask for armanac the clerks grab amaretto, so I settle for cognac.
It's amazing how fast those Clay pigeons try to get away.
I had never been into shotguns a lot, used them when I was stationed over in Turkey back in the early 70's and could not have rifled arms.
I picked up a few modern types including two doubles, as Win 101 20 ga and one of the nicer...
Some pictures of my 1873 Vetterli. The large portion at the rear of the bolt houses the mainspring. I have read that if it breaks the valve spring from some of the old air cooled Volkswagon engines is a suitable replacement. The locking lugs are at the rear of the bolt, just in front of the...
Pictures of that old Martini-Henry reminded me of an old rifle I have put back.
It's a model of 1873 Swiss Vetterli, a bolt action repeater. It has a tubular magazine holding something like 11-13 cartridges in 10.4x54R, R being rimfire. It uses a lifter mechanism somewhat copied from the...
I had that happen yesterday on an Open Road style Wormser hat. I had bid, via Gixen about 2.5x his starting price. I woke up this morning to see that it went for almost 4x starting, which did not surprise me, but my bid went in as planned, someone just really wanted it.
Let us know how it works out! I just got a Fed !V Deluxe in Heritage Fawn about two days ago. Size 58 and it fits good. I honestly like the looks of my Campdraft better and ordered one of those from Everything Australian in Bluegrass Green.
Nope. E bay will keep raising the bid in small increments until you reach your maximum bid, and it is shown immediately for others to bid against. In my opinion this encourages a lot of bidding to keep on top.
With a snipe you set your bid and no one sees it until the final seconds of...
The USAF Field Grade hat is blue with silver "braid" in the form of clouds and lightning bolts, commonly refered to in the service as "farts and darts".
Jeff former Maj. USAF
No. I generally need a 7 1/4 LO myself, but have several Akubra hats in size 58 and find them soft enough to conform readily to my head shape. Possibly their blocks tend more toward the long oval shape than a rounder shape. Just my impression.
This incident did not involve a true hat, but a University of Texas cap my son had.
We were visiting my sister over in Miss. She had two little mini pins and the larger of the two , a stockily built male with plenty of attitude, came marching into the room proudly displaying my son's hat...
My Fed IV deluxe in Heritage Fawn just rolled in a few minutes ago. I unpacked it, found an old nearly empty spray bottle of eyeglass cleaner, cleaned it out and filled with water, and proceded to wet and shape it to kind of a c-crown type bash I seem to see a lot here and that I like.
I...
I have a few pieces of mozaic tiles, from Philidelphia, in Turkey, one of the 7 Churches of Asia Minor.
A friend brought them back with him when he returned to the states a few months ahead of us in 1974, and them when we returned he sent them to me. I think it was illegal there a the time...
Another Jeff here. I could not agree more, thinking a lot of us have grown to adopt this attitude toward life and others.
No one is talking me into a kilt either, but in reality it's not a lot of difference from shorts.
I have a similar Stetson, purchased it in late 1974 early 75, I acutally spotted it a few minutes before my father did. It had a different hatband, some kind of embossed plastic that looked like tooled leather. I wore it some for a few years, then Dad bought a black one like it. That was...
