Joshua - Thanks! As ever with this sort of stuff, it's a matter of accumulating it. The trousers are knocking about online, and I'm currently on my third pair so I can heartily recommend them! What are those Swiss ones you mention? And I think Olney have their caps for sale online on their...
Perhaps so then - I'm conflicted because it has both an embroidered label and an older looking printed label. Tricky! Have we got a record of the lengths of the different Tootals through the ages TT?
And thanks for the advice on the cravat - it's tempting to chuck it in the washing machine to...
Esteban68 - Thanks! It's probably the most vibrant Tootal I have apart from a blue, yellow and red paisley 'Standard Quality' I have. The striped cravat is good, but mucky around the neck - I wonder if I could chuck it in the washing machine in a pillowcase?
TT - Yes the two labels are odd...
TT - Thanks! I don't like looks that are too fussy.
Esteban68 - Thanks! If you PM me your email I can send you the full book that I photographed if you're interested? I think there are copies on abebooks.co.uk too.
Metatron - Thanks also! Looking back through this thread I can see you also...
Esteban68 - thanks! I'm always on the hunt!
TT - I have a couple apiece of Prova and Damax - a really old silk Damax in that really crinkly weave which I assume would be 1930s. As for different Klipper labels, there aren't many variations that I've found! For standard ties they seemed to use...
Just a few more - these are perhaps my absolute favourite ties of my collection - had them ages. A wool 'Linosair' is no.1 for me, it just ticks all the boxes, an 'Akco' necktie, which is something I haven't come across before or since (I understood they only made bowties), and the most pristine...
Thanks dh66! That red crosshatched is an odd one - I can't tell what it's made out of. It's too heavy and...'floppy'...for wool but not sure what else it could be!
And yes you do sound appropriately British...top hole, cheers, what what etc! Haha :D
Fellow Workers ;)
Here is me wearing the new 'Retro Sport' cap. I really like it, BUT I'd say it definitely has a 'European' look about it, rather than British. Paired it with some thick Danish army trousers and a nice wool tie.
(Sorry for the squint!)
Also, found some pictures that I look a...
Some different ones to what I usually have - some recent acquisitions, some I've had a while.
Two German ties, presumably sixties. The red silk one is rather strange in that all the red has worn off around wear the knot ties, just showing black. 'Redde Krawatte' and 'Trevira' from a shop in...
Pretty much all new ones I've bought recently. I'll let the labels speak for themselves. I've got shed-loads of these two-tone ties - I love them! Really subtle colouring - exactly what the Americans hate ;)
Let me know what you reckon gents! Please keep posting your own!
Hello all,
Some new acquisitions. Two Tootal Rayon Cravats, the striped one has that fluted shape, and the red one is straight, but it clearly used to be pleated (still some stitches and creases). The striped one seems to be club colours to me - did Tootal do such a service?
A Tootal 'Green...
Interesting - and that would put it in the era I would have assumed too. I'd be interested to know where the other one really came from. I've done some quick searches but can't find any regiments with those colours. But then again it could be from a now defunct one.
Joshua - Very nice. I'd dare say the top one is an old regimental tie of some sort from Army/Navy/Airforce etc - but I could well be wrong on that. I've a friend who has a tailor's book with all of them in - they are always interesting to come across. You might be able to find it with some...
Very nice Dinerman, as always! Do let me know if you get sick of any of those more 'boring' ties ;) Your posts always seem to wordlessly illustrate the stark difference between British and American tastes in ties!
EDIT: Just found your Ebay page! Makes for happy browsing
