Thanks TT. I'm also a big fan of that Celanese tie - 20p from a local charity shop! The Macclesfield is a curious one, and I had no idea it could be so old as that! It's a nice one to have in the collection. I miiiiiiiight just wear those scarves and ties, but keep the box and packaging as...

Tootal - The Company History and its products (ties, scarves etc)

Thanks TT. The cravats do seem a little more ambiguous certainly. In my head I had the idea from long ago that Green quality had nylon in it but I don't know why - I didn't have any with it in and I can't imagine I would have seen one and passed on it. Strange. I'll have to see if I can clean...

    Swap Your Vintage Ties!!!

Any of you bold-tie enthusiasts interested in this one? 49" long, 5" wide at the blade, I think it's either Rayon or cotton or something - a substantial twill-like weave anyway, but not silk or wool. Ties very nicely. No label. Thanks for looking!

Tootal - The Company History and its products (ties, scarves etc)

I see. Thanks TT, makes sense with the narrower shapes coming out. Here's a few new Tootal acquisitions: A very nice 'Special Quality' - I want to acquire more of these bad boys A 'Green Quality' - but perhaps a later one - a bit narrower and it is 10% Nylon. It's in pretty poor shape -...

Show us your Munrospun, Braespun, Lochmarl etc. Ties!

I've got a few new Munrospuns that I shall get around to putting on, but for the meantime some nice tie and scarf sets that I acquired - still can't decide whether to wear them or keep them in their box! They've spent the last 60 years in there after all! All Trias and Linosair ties I've...

OK, got a few that might be interesting. Some I've also posted in the 'Show us your Munrospun' etc. thread. This is a 'Macclesfield Longscarf' - don't know an awful lot about them other than that they come from Macclesfield, England. I came across this one ages ago, and I know my friend has a...

Very nice Retro Spectator. What pattern do you tend to use for ties?

Tootal - The Company History and its products (ties, scarves etc)

Do we have a solid cut-off point for Rayon? Were the rayon and terylene ties produced in tandem in that later period? I've got a few more new Tootal items I'll post in a bit.

Eyelet collars/ Collar Bars: Can they be worn today?

Interesting. I've always toyed with idea of swapping good collars to good tunics from their respective poor hosts. Gone as far as separating them but not got around to it. Does it/would it work? Regards to the main discussion - it is very rare for myself to not wear a pin or clip. I think they...

    What are you wearing today??

Love finding wool ties out in the wild. So often they have been attacked by the dreaded moths though!

Fascinating. Interesting to see that mix of American international fashion and traditional dress among those individuals.

Ah very interesting. Did they prove quite popular then? And do we know very much about Japanese fashions at the time? It's not something I've ever looked into.

Agreed. You could frame that on the wall.

Nice ties Estaban - rather interesting! I for one really like terylene ties - easy to clean and a little more resilient than silk.
