Yes it scorches verrry easily. I tend to just try and flatten them rather than press them.

Dead right! Terylene ties are great. Honestly some of the nicest ties I own are Terylene; theyre easy to clean and if the weave is right as durable as anything. As TT says, I'll wear Terylene as often as wool or silk. I feel a 'Terylene Appreciation' thread coming up...

Joshua - very nice! I really like the Lloyds and the green Tootal. Are those the ones you were going back for? Strapped - that's an interesting design. Good for summer!

My thoughts exactly! It's too nice a tweed to do away with its original character. Let me know how it goes!

Forgot to mention - the first is a dark grey herringbone and the latter a solid charcoal.

British RAF DB Belted Wool Raincoat

Hello Ladies and Gents, This is a typical RAF mac, with original belt. Not sure how old, but I'd say probably at least 40 years, and has the classic styling. Measurements are in the pictures, but I'd say it fits a 38-40" chest (with a jacket underneath) and the sleeves are fairly long...

Hello folks! Here are two of my best. The first is a 'Burton's the Tailors' 1951 belted overcoat. It's incredibly heavy, and thick, with turn-back cuffs (don't know if there's a real name for these?) and double-stitched seams. And here is a great Double-breasted overcoat by 'Burleigh' - a...

What Cap Are You Wearing Today?

Hello again folks, My Sterkowski has arrived! A very well made cap for the price. It's taken a little getting used to (the cap isn't attached to the peak, and it quite full, so it's taken some adjustment to get the right look) but I really like it! I think it looks a little bit smarter than my...

Tootal - The Company History and its products (ties, scarves etc)

Thanks, and yes I suppose it's not a bad price really. It's less that what you'd expect to pay for a new tie today.

How many suits do you own?

I've a feeling it will be growing yes... ;) I shall try to do so! I'll pester my wife into photographing.

How many suits do you own?

Hope folks don't mind me coming late to this thread. Here's my stats: Suits: 15+. All British and all in a pre-1965 style if not actually made then. Highlights include a 3-piece DB in green, charcoal chalk-stripe SB peak lapel 3-piece (made for me), grey belt-back tweed 3-piece (made for me)...

The Thread to Display Your 1930s Suits

A dream of a suit Dostioffsky! Truly impeccable, and you look great in it. May I ask what the cap is that you're wearing?

Tootal - The Company History and its products (ties, scarves etc)

Yep - I'd never buy them at that price individually. I got mine from a seller second-hand for super cheap. It's a shame they're all so expensive. If they'd been priced a fiver each that seller would have made a tidy profit by now (mostly from us!). Oh well!

Tootal - The Company History and its products (ties, scarves etc)

3 'Black Quality' Tootals I received today. My favourite is the red I think - it has the best pattern, but going on the width I'd say it's a later one. I'd say they typify 'Black Quality' with their medallion patterns. I also like the different linings they have. Also, just found this Ebay...

I couldn't agree more. Love the Klipper and Lochinvar - never heard of that one! Very nice!

What kind of Coat is this?

Reminds me of old germanic hunting suits, with those scalloped pockets and Ghillie collar.

Tootal - The Company History and its products (ties, scarves etc)

I agree! They still have their merit and make for good ties. Here are two of my latest - and I think they go straight up to two of my favourites! Both 'Standard Quality', the striped one is a 'Cotton and Rayon', with a very small label, and the other just the regular label. I assume the striped...
