Well perhaps these ties will go towards showing that British ties do have some life in them! (Although I for one would happily wear a 'rust' tie, scrapheap or no ;) )
Three 'Klipper' ties:
I have never come across a tie so physically bright before. It's practically fluorescent! Appropriate...
Got this little fellow in a bag of 40 vintage ties for £5, so i suppose that puts it at 12.5p! 'Popular Quality', super short with the old white label. Still has the little loop of string where the cardboard label was stitched on. Only problem is someone has pressed it into a bit of a twist, but...
Or, if you want this one you can have it instead/or another swap. Warning though, it has two holes in the front and has a bit of shine from over-pressing.
TT - here's that mucky 'Black Quality' I mentioned. Let me know if you want it. Thought I'd post it here rather than 'Swap' just for its own sake.
The main mucky bits are at the tip of the blade and just about where you tie the knot - although they probably will come out with either a wash or...
Strangely enough I've bought quite a few Swedish army things. I bought one of those prison suits ages ago and wear it for gardening - It's great, and very tough. Also, I bought a couple of those work shirts but in a cream linen - the ones I got had a decent spear-point collar on them and are OK...
They're very nice. I've got about half-a-dozen pairs of these. Got them from the local army surplus in varying conditions, some unworn, and I wear them very often. I think they're far superior to commercial braces - the elastic is just right. Not too rigid, not too loose. I've noticed they get...
Really nice esteban68 - a suit to wear anytime, anywhere. Nice to see the ticket pocket. I think it always adds a bit of curiosity to a suit. It's the kind of classic stuff I like too and very often wear.
Edward - I agree they are pricey for OTR and a bit too much so to take the plunge. In many ways they're designer prices for a designer product. It just irks me that for what we might pay I've still got to take the time myself to put turn ups on them. You'd think they'd oblige. Over them I'd...
TT - I absolutely agree those trousers do not look British OR 1930s. I'm very picky about trousers with a suit - I feel they are at times more important than the jacket.
Edward - I have approached Old Town before but they are certainly not open to requests - not even turn ups!
Going off...
Thanks - I've come across Rocacha before - are they open to modifications on their designs etc?
Here's the link to the Bookster page - there's a 'Made to Order' and a 'Custom Made to Measure' - prices on both still pretty heavy: http://www.tweed-jacket.com/pricing.html
I've always wanted a Bookster suit, but again, never been able to afford it. I'm glad they came back into business though so that one day I might get one! I can't remember how much their pricing used to be, but now they're about the same amount as going to a tailor - about a grand for a MTM suit.
Shall do thanks. I've tried to have a suit copied before but my outfitter wasn't keen on doing it and would only take measurements - it's good that they do a copy service.
