Sounds like you have the same two hats as I, but I bought neither from Orvis. The broad brim sounds similar to my Riverz Delta, the packable fedora is definitely the same as the Joe Fedora - I bought both from noggintops.com, each for $20 less than the Orvis price (not so cheap today, but...
Sam at EA had Akubra make me a hat in a previously unavailable size and it arrived a month earlier than expected. I think we can refrain from condemning EA on the basis of a few Lounge anecdotes, eh?
Don't know the reason, just that my mother and grandmothers (both) would have a fit if they saw it. It's been discussed on the Lounge before (really, what a surprise). Enjoy:

Looks like a nice lid, is it vintage? Where are you, exactly, to buy a hat in Euro?
And, yes please, get that hat off the bed, it's giving me the heebie-jeebies....
Ex812 - which color Capricorn did you order? I ordered a gray Capricorn in size 62 from EA on Feb 26 or thereabouts. It was the first one, as it was not manufactured in size 62 until Sam persuaded Akubra to make one for me (that's why Hats Direct doesn't show it on their site).
Anyway, I'm...
Nice JP - that's the one I had my eye on, the Danville in cocoa. I prefer a teardrop to a center dent. The ribbon looks even nicer up close - great pic. Who knows, maybe Miller could be coaxed to do one with a 2-1/4" brim, hmm.....
Love the ribbon on the Adams, especially with the cocoa color - interesting that the center dent Milans come in a choice of 3 brim sizes, but the teardrop only comes in the largest size. What colors and brim sizes are you taking?
Welcome
If you like the Banjo Paterson the best, then I say go for it. As it happens, they are on sale at Noggintops (in the US) and they appear to have your size 62 in stock in fawn and charcoal - I have had good experiences with this vendor.

I suggest checking out the ubiquitous Akubra Capricorn, a well-regarded polypro straw hat that comes in gray or fawn. The material looks like Milan straw, with an open weave around the crown. Mine is cool, and would stand up to being caught in the rain. If you want more than the 2-1/2" brim...
I agree with C.H. - the Christy's is the only wool bowler I've seen that looks acceptable and the price is right. The grey is a nice shade, at least on my monitor.
Holy cow
The side views are amazing - do you have a racoon coat to wear with it?
Based on this, I think you could make a sweet fedora out of a bathmat....
I just returned from a west coast trip with two hats. I had a Stetson felt and a polypro straw and kept them one inside the other, straw on the bottom (it's a bit smaller). I put them on top of my knapsack in the overhead bin. The knapsack is thin enough to leave height above it for the hats...
I was going to mention Starstruck as well, although they never have anything large enough for me (7-3/4). I've seen hats at the outdoor flea market at 17th St. and 6th Avenue, once a beautiful brown Bergdorff's bowler that I should have bought in spite of its small size. There's also the weekend...
XL Capricorn arrives
Well my gray Capricorn arrived - very happy with it. Sam at Everything Australian got in touch with Akubra and got them to make me a size 62 in gray - as far as I know, it's the first one, and I notice it is now an available size in the pull down box. I ordered it March...
