Oh brother, that's a killer, and in my size too. The only solace is that the seller lists the inside circumference as 23.5", so maybe it shrank down to a size 7-1/2 and I don't have to dream about it. (OK, the seller probably just mis-measured, but I'm sticking with the shrinkage theory).
Well, the stylist has simply put slightly too-small jackets on skinny models - there's no reason you have to do that. But those jackets are described as modern trim-fit, so will probably look small unless you're trim yourself. I think your best bet is to go to an old-fashioned department store...
Linen or even tropical wool in a loose weave will be cooler than a cotton jacket. As far as color, a neutral dark taupe or brown with olive tones will go with most things. I've always found a navy blazer to be formal looking, for some reason - although most people don't think this way.
For...
I can't wait to get my first bespoke suit so I can roll up shirt AND jacket sleeves when sitting down to dinner at the club, sort of like what THIS guy might do:
David Morgan has a retail location, walk-ins welcome, map and address here:

Re: the brim size, what is stingy on a regular head may look downright Lilliputian on you.
For instance, I recommend looking at the Akubra Stylemaster and the Akubra Sydney...
The Worth & Worth website is actually www.hatshop.com as posted by Tomasso above - worthandworth.com conveniently bounces you there.
To the OP, what sort of hat are you talking about? Western? Fedora?
Consider these braces offered by Old Woogies: http://www.oldwoogies.com/store.htm
I really like this unusual method of button attachment, it seems very low profile. It looks like something you might be able to replicate yourself, in place of the leather connector in the back of your braces...
Update - I ordered these moveable metal clip-on buttons and received them today:
http://www.suspenderstore.com/noezm.html
They work very well, are the correct size and grab the waistband fine. Going forward, I plan to use these to determine button placement on trousers - i.e. wear braces with...
Coincidentally, I recently posted a link to a baseball-style cardigan currently offered by J. Peterman:

These go on sale sometimes, plus there are J. Peterman banner links at the lounge that give 16% off.
I recommend bringing a tailor's-style fabric tape measure when shopping. Measure up and memorize your dimensions and that way you can be sure when trying on clothes isn't possible. In fact, I bring the tape when shopping for new clothes for my wife, as there is so much variation in women's...
^^^ I agree, Warbaby - I found my button placement by trial and error in the mirror, using little binder clips to hold the tabs in place temporarily. I have a set of movable buttons on the way which should simplify things. The other calculation stuff I thought might be useful for someone trying...
Thanks Feraud, I know I'm over-analyzing this, but it's allowing me to avoid grading papers.
On further reflection, I want to modify my algorithm. I think the 8" distance between the center buttons is more properly computed as 50% of the actual width at the hips, i.e. the side-to-side dimension...
You make an excellent point Tomasso. In fact, I've used an assumed linear dependence of suspender button separation as a function of girth to generate a formula to determine button placement as a function of waist size. I'm kidding, sort of, but the results seem to work...
Update - I've purchased a couple pair of silk braces (with the elastic in the back, below the Y) and a fully elastic set. The silk are quite nice, and very comfortable, I haven't received the elastic ones yet, but I've worn them in the past, so they're no mystery.
In the meantime, I've been...
