^^^ Good deal picking one up at the outlet. Since my post above, I took some pictures of my sage Chatham with the new darker ribbon and matching brim binding and posted them on the lounge on another thread...
There are thousands of places to dine in the big city --- let the poorly-dressed men-children attend those that want their patronage without regard to bare toes and chest hair, so the grownups can dine where standards are set above the level of the beach comber and the gym rat.
These are brand new Albert Thurston braces, size L (44"), elastic with a beautiful geometric design in brown and red over beige/tan. The button ends are flat tabs done in a really nice leather. The width is 1-3/8" (35 mm). They were purchased new from Bromley's in the UK, and I would return them...
I'm resurrecting this thread to show the end result. I took Art's advice and had the rippled brim of my Chatham bound. The work was done by Worth & Worth last November. The hat has gotten a lot of wear since then, and the brim binding has cured the rippling problem. The binding was done by hand...
Some pictures of the Crittenden Linen jacket in tan, size XL:
The build quality is better than I realized before - the interior piping is nice, and notice the almost completely hidden zipper giving access to interior pockets behind the lower patch pockets. I sent them back already, so am...
No apology necessary, I think we all realize online ordering is a crapshoot - in this case the discount was certainly worth taking a chance. I too, am baffled by working cuff buttons on this item. I'll take some detail photos tomorrow, I have a bunch of things I was planning to shoot anyway and...
OK, mine showed up and they are sized very oddly. I am size 46 regular, and the XL linen jacket was very tight - the buttons closed, but it was body hugging and no good. Sleeves were too long, but only by a couple of inches - a normal amount in my experience. A clever tailor could deal with the...
^^ this sizing issue worries me - mine arrive tomorrow, so I'll know soon.
I just noticed there is now a review of the linen jacket at STP, and the reviewer says it is true to size and length, but with too-long sleeves.
Wow, just stumbled on this thread. Looks good - I was contemplating a silverbelly Moose River, but a silverbelly BH Flyer in 7-3/4 would be aces (I already have a sage hat). Major, can you say what the actual brim width will be?
Thanks Tomasso for the heads-up on this outstanding deal! I couldn't decide so ordered the linen in both blue and tan (the order qualifies for free shipping, even with the extra 40% off). I see return shipping is a flat $5.75, which is highly reasonable.
I bought them specifically to match...
I have a Stetson Chatham in sage green, and there was not any powder on it. Sage is a nice color - looks like medium olive in daylight, dark gray at night. It is a MUCH nicer hat than the Stylemaster (I had one). The Chatham has heavier, softer felt, nicer proportions in the teardrop, less taper...
Hey Tom - as an aside, I had a brim binding added to a hat with a somewhat wavy raw edge, and it has helped quite a bit. If there's someone nearby who can do it, it's definitely worth the cost.
I have a Joe Fedora that's been utterly beat to crap and looks fine. I even got tar on it and it came right off with a toothbrush and dish soap. It's a great summer hiking, kayaking and beach hat - everyone is surprised when they find out it isn't straw. I'm still kicking myself for not buying...
