    Suit without a tie...

I have to respectfully disagree with the comment about suits. The Golden Era proved that a man in a suit could look fun. Well, narrow that down to the late 30's-early 50's. In some social circles, a suit is seen as a form of pretension, and I'll never understand that. They're stylish, elegant...

    Suit without a tie...

Any jacket with lapels can impress anyone these days. It isn't informal to them;)

    Suit without a tie...

I've pretty much always been against this look, since the cravat does so much to the outfit. The suit without a tie look just ends up looking sloppy and very vanilla. It's not like a tie takes that much extra time to incorporate into the fit anyway, anyone could do the four-in-hand knot in their...

Beautiful tie! I'm trying to branch out from late 40's swing ties and into 20's and 30's territory, but there's so little of what I'm looking for in this period. Great cravat you have there, though!

Is ebay about to end selling vintage and unique items?

I always wonder what eBay was like around the time it was conceived ('97-'00). humble beginnings, it seems like.

Is ebay about to end selling vintage and unique items?

There would be complete chaos if they just removed marketing of vintage items on eBay. I have my doubts about this outcome.

What rise is required for pants like these?

I don't have a big belly, so this wouldn't even be a problem. As for fitting in-- It could be said that every aspect of the habiliments illustrated in these ads are out of place today, most certainly in casual zones, where I wear outfits like in the ads. I get complimented on the shirts, shoes...

FS: Early 1940s (UK) 3-piece DB grey flannel suit, wide 30s cut trousers

I'm watching this on ebay and have actually sent a question about it. A wonderful suit, just far out of my budget. Shame, it would be perfect for me. Whoever gets this one is a lucky one!

What rise is required for pants like these?

Huh, i see so few pairs venturing into that territory. I'll keep me eyes peeled! The lack of originals meeting this criterion is bizarre

What rise is required for pants like these?

On eBay I see a lot of trousers that have a rise of 12''. This is obviously a change up from modern pants I've worn with a rise of 9'', but I'm curious as to what measurement will be required to have results such as these. Perhaps 12'' is enough?

    Homburg Nation

Indeed. It makes me wish there were more hat receipts from long ago, or stamped dates somewhere. I like utilizing clues on my garments to imagine the history behind it.
