Okay...you've made your point: you don't like the block. I got that. It's sold, so it will be reblocked by the new owner. Lighten up. (of course, it IS a black hat!)
Thanks, Baron; this hat is hand-blocked right now. It's a simple matter for the new owner to steam it back to open and then block it as they wish. The felt is still very supple.

The St Regis is a great homburg. Wonderful proportions. It was one of the two hats I wore in a video I did seven months ago in Boston:

It can be worn with a lot of styles, from casual to dress. Go for it.
This is an early black Stetson "Standard". The felt is in superb shape. The brim is 2 7/8" and is bound. There is a 2" black grosgrain ribbon and the crown is a mighty 6" when open. It is unlined. It is currently blocked in a center crease pinch front. The size is 7 1/4. This hat has a LOT of...
This is a medium grey Akubra "Squatter". It is about seven years old and has a 3" bound brim. The ribbon is 1 1/2" grosgrain in dark grey and the crown is approximately 5 1/2" open. It is size 7 1/4.
No moth holes, rips or tears. The felt is good sturdy Akubra quality.
Price: $50...
This is an early Stetson Open Road in silverbelly. It has a 2 1/2" bound brim and a 1/2" matching ribbon. It is marked "3X Beaver Quality" and the crown is 5 1/2" open. Right now it is in a diamond block.
This hat needs a good cleaning but there are no rips, tears or mothholes. Please feel...
Ah, yes...remodeling means making more room. I have a few hats that, for one reason or another, I don't wear. So I thought I'd post them here in hopes they would go to someone who would appreciate them. I will post them one at a time and they will not go on Ebay. You may PM me with any questions...
That is actually an interesting looking suit, Marc. While it isn't something I would choose for everyday wear...I think it would look pretty great on stage...with the right hat.
You guys are lucky...I ordered a custom built ukulele from a luthier in Maryland, and it took 2 years and three months to get it. I knew his wait list was that long. It was considerably more expensive than a custom hat and it was well worth the wait.
Getting anything made custom from a one...
I would agree...it's flipped. Altering photos in a major way or reversing the image to better fit the layout is very poor design.
The article is nice, but bland. Most of the images are from movies.
I usually buy a new straw every couple of years. For most hot weather, I just wear one of my lighter felts. All straws are more delicate.
But, mostly, I don't care for the way I look in a straw, even a great panama...it's more a personal preference.
Ah...there speaks a wise man. Almost any "handcrafting", from hats to musical instruments to vintage automobiles, requires a lot of Patience and Persistence. Paying attention to details becomes more and more important the better you get at something.
That's a nice hat, Tonyb. And it must be...
...is Home.

It is odd that they can't get it together to put up a decent website. Whoever is doing theirs is Flash-happy...makes for a long design time and a slow load.
