    Here's to you Root!!

Ah... Okay, I see what I did. I looked, but didn't read! Here's his original pic: which I prefer. (even tho that cleft chin is a bit much) Sorry, Wild Root.

    Here's to you Root!!

another reference photo I would like mine to look like Jean Harlow :) ...but Mr. Powell has the hat AND the block.

    Here's to you Root!!

Yow, Art, that was quick! I'm impressed...the dimensions are super, a very nice balance. but I agree: a bound brim edge would be very tasty, and a c-dent block like in Wild Root's original post/photo. It certainly has the right profile! I love the name! (Of course, "Ukuleleman" would be...

    Whiskey

I agree with Scotrace, Old Overholt Rye Whiskey is worth the hunt. A good 40s highball is Rye and Ginger on the rocks. For blended Scotch: Johnny Walker Red Label (I love Murakami's Wind up bird chronicle...but not his taste in Scotch!) For Single Malt: Macallans, 12 year (anything older...

    Another Virgin bites the dust!!!!

The New Design Can't wait, bring it on. Light colored hats from that era are impossible to find..."sahara" sounds yummy.

    Another Virgin bites the dust!!!!

While I agree with your assessment, Art...I'm really more interested in the hat having that "look" that is terribly hard to find, yet so appealing. It may not be the only style common at that time, but it is certainly one of the best. The nice thing about a 2 3/8 inch brim is that it can be worn...

    In Praise of Narrow Brims

I've never seen this block before either...very nice. I like different looks in hats, this seems to be one of them. I like some short brim hats but they just don't seem to work with my 'hattitude'.

    Another Virgin bites the dust!!!!

20s design Mmmm. I'll hold you to that, Art. Oh, by the way, besides the high crown and the 2 3/8s brim...it needs the wider ribbon...

    Bogart's endorsement?

I have been under the impression for some time that Resistol was the only hat that Bogart ever endorsed? Is this true?

    Another Open Road Pretender?

Nice hat regardless...so...it has a little "character" and you can happily wear it without worrying about it.

    fountain pens

yow, John! "...words sing in your head" is poetry itself. I love writing with a good fountain pen.

    fountain pens

I have used vintage fountain pens for many years. My favorites are the ones with flexible nibs. I use them for drawing and for writing. http://www.robertsonstudio.com/pages_poet/banding.html This was written with a Waterman 51 from the twenties using Watermans Ink. In my experience, there is no...

    Vintage Borsalino.........Bogey

Ah...so a "c-dent" has a crease in the back and a teardrop doesn't...? I like that block...but I call it a "diamond" And it does take a very soft felt with a high crown.

    Where do you wear yours?

On stage, always. Vintage is a great look. And...are we ever off stage?

    Vintage Borsalino.........Bogey

Fedora: This is a great looking hat...I'm curious, do you call that block a "teardrop" or a "diamond"?

The BWANA arrives! - First pics.

pugaree Thanks, bellytank! your omnivoric knowledge on pugaree bands (I stand corrected on the spelling) is enlightening.

The BWANA arrives! - First pics.

I love this entire "reproducing a movie look" thing! It has a lot of charm. Another odd thing I notice about Stewart Granger's hat in the film is that the pungaree band is clipped in the front, instead of the side, as usual. stranger and stranger. and, while we're on the move look subject: I...
