My poor old mother had the only line that made me smile at all yesterday:

"G-d-it, don't these people know old ladies need to watch their shows? I been waitin' all week to watch 'Chicago Fire,' 'Chicago PD,' and 'Chicago Med,' an' all that's on is this mess!"

I live here and seldom look at television. Came up the subway one nite and a young black lady
asked if I had any money, so I slipped her a fiver, told her to get some coffee and a donut.
I cross the street-this is the Gold Coast, not a hardscrabble neighborhood-and a squad car pulls
up, siren flashed. And they want to know what the lady said, what I said...
Federal agent, showed the badge. Apologies. No problem guys, I just need a shower, sandwich, sleep.
Prostitution sting. Entrapment, solicit for immoral purpose. The girl is watching all this, smiles,
and waves with the bill in her hand. A Chicago lady blue.

I just watched the first episode of ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ on PBS. I’m kind of watching it for the knitwear, but the whole show is lovely.

I’m also re-watching the BBC show ’Wartime Farm’ on YouTube. The real-life James Herriot (Alf Wight) began working in Yorkshire in 1940, and I wanted to see more about farming and rural life in those years.

My wife was tired of my endless consumption of current news so we began surfing around Netflix trying to find something to watch. After several false starts we ended up on "Designated Survivor" somehow. This might not have been the best week to start that show. :(

I have hung in there for a few episodes though (and, surprisingly, she has too).

Got my wife all five seasons of Outlander on blu-ray, and we have watched five episodes so far. One guest actor was soooooo familiar, could not place him. He is uncle Charlie on Peaky Blinders.

Can you count watching CNN for about 12 hours straight? Because that's what I did yesterday.

My father in law would have no reason to wake up if CNN went off the air.

No one understands his obsession.

First, he is a retired farmer with no news, politics or world affairs background.

Second, he is Canadian, and you could count more teeth on hens than you could count Canadian news events on CNN.

We just don't get it. Last time I saw it was at an airport. In 2016. I do not miss it!

Was only watching it that long to keep up with the startling, shocking events of Jan. 6!
