The Americans, which came roaring back firing on all cylinders in the season 4 premiere. Still The Best Drama Series on TV that Hardly Anyone's Watching.

I was totally enthralled with this series for the first season and started watching the second and then...well, I'm not a prude, I'm really not, but the overt sexual situations on this show were too much for me. Unnecessary, IMO.

I'd like to give it another go, though, maybe in some kind of format that I can just fast forward those scenes.

You should, the series was great from the start, but it has actually improved A LOT as it's gone along. It does a far better job portraying the personal toll that spying takes on individuals and families then, say, Homeland. (To name the other cable drama where a former adorable teen-show star is now a cold-blooded spy.)

And the show's sex isn't gratuitous, it's nearly all plot-related, being used as "tradecraft" to create intimacy/influence with "assets". And come on, it's only basic cable sex, not premium cable sex. Personally, I have far more difficulty with the show's chilling, white-knuckle suspense and sometimes disturbingly intense violence.

Oh, I totally get that the sex is plot-related and that they are using it as part of their tradecraft. But you can be tasteful about showing it.

These two sentences cover it well. The sex is plot or character based, and c'mon, it's cable, not HBO. Even when she caught mom alluding to giving dad a BJ, that was all character development and not gratuitous at all. That makes for a good discussion, though. I wonder how hard HBO fought for Mad Men once it was having troubles with AMC. I know a lot of people didn't bother watching it because it wasn't on premium cable and thought it couldn't serve the sex properly without the nudity and language; or that the show would be much better if it had no boundaries. I understood their point, but I also feel it all silly. The Americans handles sex really well, considering it is likely to be a primary tool for spies, particularly female spies. Racy conversation and language are probably a constant in that business, so it has to be a common component in such a series.

Anime and Cartoons... "Naruto Shippuden" and "Axe Cop". The former is typical but superior anime from Japan.... "Axe Cop" on the other hand is some Fox sponsored craziness that will have you scratching your head and laughing all at the same time.

Watched the second episode of "Batman: The Animated Series" and continue to be impressed with the artistry - the graphics, the Gotham-as-a-dark-city, the use of shadows, the echoing-the-1940s style, the comic-book-comes-alive feel - it is impressive and not kid-oriented at all. The story was better than your average cartoon, but not as sophisticated as I believe it will get based on others' reviews. You can feel them developing the characters. Looking forward to seeing more episodes.
