The new season of Daredevil dropping made me realize that we (my son's the one with the Netflix account) hadn't yet watched Jessica Jones (who I suspect may show up sometime in Daredevil's second season as they more towards teaming up in The Defenders). So we watched the first three episodes of Jessica Jones - this is the first Marvel show/film with which I was totally unfamiliar with the underlying comics. (That was also true of Guardians of the Galaxy, but only as a group - I knew Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, and Ronan the Accuser from their comics appearances in the 60s/70s.)

It's certainly DIFFERENT. I'm intrigued by its even more "street-level" approach than Daredevil, its unique, noirish look and feel, and as I expected, Krysten Ritter is outstanding.

And uh, AmateisGal... I strongly advice you to stay away from Jessica Jones if you think the sex scenes in The Americans are too much!

We're three episodes in on Netflix's Daredevil. The show is firing on all cylinders!

I just did three episodes myself last night. Puddin' fell asleep through the last season review (spousal drowsal ah calls it) so... I watched the rest myself. I was a wondering when "HE" was going to show up!

All five seasons of "The Batman". Not to be confused with "Batman the Animated Series" which aired almost 2 decades earlier. This series is not as gritty or dark as it's predecessor and it also covers the origins of Batgirl and Robin quite differently. It also depicts the formation of the Justice League. Not great but better'n nuthin'.

Dr. Strange convinced me to break from my sequential watching of "Batman: the Animated Series" and to watch his curated list first, so I watched "Heart of Ice." Very impressive: well written, beautiful artistry, great mood and good Batman-as-detective character development.

We moved into our new place over the weekend and don't have cable or internet until Tuesday, so we've been watching episodes of Supernatural on DVD when we collapse in exhaustion at the end of the night.

I think I'm going to die in this house. I. HATE. MOVING.

Congratulations. Yes, moving is hard, but your Cape is very, very pretty and looks so inviting that you guys must feel great. Enjoy and the best of luck in your new home.

Some ancient TV: a 1953 episode of Adventures of Superman, and a first-season Star Trek.

The Superman was the famous story in which Superman squeezes a lump of coal in one hand and turns it into a diamond ("Put a lump of coal under a million tons of pressure for a thousand years, and you've got a diamond"). I say it's famous because it was referenced about 25 years later on an episode of Saturday Night Live. As guest host, Margot Kidder plays Lois Lane, now married to Superman. She responds when a character compliments her huge diamond ring: "Oh, hubby made it for me out of a charcoal briquet." I contend the writers not only remembered that original scene (having seen it as I did, in reruns after school), they expected their audience and viewers would remember it too.

The "Star Trek" was "Errand of Mercy," which introduced the Klingons. We've all seen it so many times that there isn't much to say, except that the episodes MeTV is showing on Saturday nights are more than likely the remastered ones with improved special effects. There are effects that I do not remember ever seeing before, details to phaser firings and to the surfaces of planets as the Enterprise orbits them. Good work. I can hardly wait for "Doomsday Machine"!

I had no idea HE would show up and was thrilled! I find Electra to be the only weak point in the series. The actress playing the character delivers her lines badly. She would be a better fit on a cheesy CW show like Arrow or The Flash.

The episodes aired on MeTV are indeed the remastered versions; whether or not the special effects were "improved" is a matter of opinion. ;)
