What was the last TV show you watched?

I am eagerly awaiting the second set of this season, September as I recall. Best season yet, it has grown on me as I am a day one-er.

It has grown on us as well. The second season was even more entertaining than the first. We watched the first episode of the third season a while back, but it didn't click. We chalked that up to having just finished watching all of the GoT episodes over the pasy month.

Turn. I'm surprised there is so little talk about this show. I don't find it tip-top tier, but considering where we are and what is happening, I would [wrongly] assume people would be interested in the founding of our country. Just the period setting and situation seems like it would be a draw. It's no John Adams (HBO), but I feel it is one of the better shows on TV at the moment.

A fascinating documentary on PBS about photographer Rowland Scherman, whose name I didn't know, but many of whose photos from the 1960s are famous and familiar. He shot the Peace Corps, the Kennedys, the March On Washington, The Beatles, Dylan, a bunch of other musicians, Woodstock... what a career, and what an eye! Check out the portfolios at his site:

My wife and I have now seen the first two of the newest Sherlocks.

Frankly, neither of us can understand the criticism of this season.

I can only sum it up to our knowing better!

Episode two was particularly good. All the twists and turns, what a roller coaster ride!

A few episodes of "Carnival Eats."

Candy bars coated in batter and, then, deep fried / double chocolate dipped bacon coated in nuts and sprinkles / sausage covered in peanut butter, put in a hotdog bun, coated with breadcrumbs and deep fried and then drizzled with chocolate - and that's just what I remember.

Oddly engaging to watch these "creations."

First it was last night's Game of Thrones. Another excellent episode - I am really pleased with the consistency so far this (shortened) season. Glad to see last year's up and down quality gone, at least so far!

Then it was on to episode five of Preacher. Another great one. I recall ToE not particularly caring for this one - not sure why! Missus and I loved it!

Maybe it was the cabernet franc...

For the 1000th time, the Star Trek episode "Charlie X." It works, as always, because of the performances, the care Roddenberry & Co. took to make the ship seem like a working navy-in-space vessel, and the direction. That last scene on the bridge is a tour-de-force. I was astonished to see that Lawrence Dobkin, that ever-reliable supporting actor from the Fifties onward, directed it -- he has over 200 acting credits on IMDb, and 80 credits as a director. Wonder when he slept --?

Last night, an episode of Preacher and one of Fear the Walking Dead. Both were much better than the past couple of episodes. Of course that could also mean that we are moving on from our Back Sails withdrawals.

I think you're correct. Preacher has been dragging a bit, and the introduction of, and great backstory thereof, the new character gave it some good life.

"Game of Thrones" - While I love the show.... some stuff is a gettin' on my nerves.

1. Euron Greyjoy's "Flying Fleet" - Euron's fleet seems to be able to teleport.... going from one side of the continent to the other in a blink of an eye. Either this is more "magic" or the writers have thrown "logic" out the window for the sake of finishing this whole thing off before 2020.
2. Lapses in logic... - Either Cersei has a mole in Dany's camp or she is eerily prescient. Euron and Jaime know exactly where to be and when to be there with absolutely no inkling as to how they're doing it!
3. Characters suddenly changing - Cersei couldn't get out of her own way for 6 seasons now she's a political and military genius! Varys and Little Finger know all and see all with their vast network of spies 6 seasons now neither can get a damn thing right between em. Whole fleets and army's move with absolutely no knowledge by either man?
4. Big Teases with NO Payoff - The battle of Casterly Rock and the Siege of High Garden both teased for months turn out to be lame non-events... They've been teasing Stark reunions for years but Sansa's reuniting with Bran... snore fest. WTF man?!!!?

If this show weren't about to end I'd be sorely tempted to "rage quit". I love the realm but I hate stupid, lazy writing!

On the other hand, totally ignoring how much travel/building/etc. time passes between settings/sequences is giving us a season where things happen quickly. I love this show, but it was stuck slowly gyrating plots through its second act at a snail's pace for over three seasons. And I am more than willing to accept some of those lapses in story logic in a show with dragons and ice zombies.

I watched Woody Allen's Amazon show, Crisis in Six Scenes. I'm an Allen completist, so I had to. That doesn't mean you have to.

I found it weak and disappointing. Not recommended.

Each to their own. I preferred Sherlock when he was an actual detective, rather than a magician-psychic.

As I recall, isn't that the episode where Moffat got bored of the subtle joke that the landlady had a racy past, and decided to bring it out and beat us over the head with it? Urgh.

A shame you cannot get past Moffat's involvement. We think it's good fun...

A bit of a binge last night as I could not sleep (stupid hot and humid in our locale).

My wife and I caught up on the most recent Preacher, so we are now up to speed. Touch of the ol' Evil mentioned he was not overly fond of the more recent episodes, but man we enjoyed the ride!

I also stayed up to watch two more episodes of this year's Into The Badlands. This is a really enjoyable show for me.

And, yes, I had to stay up even later for an episode of Storage Wars...

We stopped after the first episode. I'll just say it - it was terrible. And I enjoyed a lot of his movies - I'm neither an Allen hater nor arrant fan, but "Crisis in Six Scenes" (at least the first hour) was awful.

It's his writing I hate. The joke was funny when it was only ever alluded to. They pushed it too far in this series.

The ASton was.... eh. For me they had it perfect with the DB5, and it's been all downhill since then.
