What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

No..I think there are those folks who do have long arms and a shorter torso. This does look like a very nice leather jacket that if it fit would be an excellent purchase. I haven't been attempting to downgrade the jacket at all. I am just more often very honest about my opinion of fit rather than sugar coating it just to be nice.

Yes, I get that this jacket isn't for you. I value honest fit feedback. It's enough to say that it looks short on me and would be short for you. But comments like "find a buyer who just doesn't mind looking odd" comes across snarky. It's hard enough to move nice jackets here without those kinds of comments.

I am sure I am the odd man out here, but I much prefer the smooth look of yours.

I am not overly concerned with grain at all to be honest.

It’s funny because that’s exactly the way I used to want them. Smooth as glass! But after the 50’s HB (which was the same hide as your 30’s from what I could tell) I was sold!

I think it looks great worn open. And though it is short when closed (that’s what blunt hems do) it’s not the shortest I’ve seen. TBH I probably would’ve returned it right away if the back measurement was nearly 2” shorter than what was listed. That’s careless or purposely negligent on the sellers part. The collar is in no way related to a jackets back length. The collar goes up the length is measured down.

I honestly don't see the jacket in the last two photos as being too short. Sure, it's short but not more so than most other jackets I see being poster on this forum. Looking at the back, the kidney panel is reaching nearly all the way to the back pockets which is how I've noticed most people here prefer their jackets to be so I wouldn't say it's that big of a deal.

Not saying it's how this jacket should fit, fit is something that's entirely subjective but I personally wouldn't even notice it as being too short had the subject not been brought up.

Gamma, if it bothers you, flip it. But you don't need to, in my opinion. Sleeves are great length, shoulders look cool... Again, fits well. It's short but I'd say manageable.

Recovering from a 103F fever/flu. Second week on the new job and I come down with a bug. So much for trying to look like a good employee! I'm wearing the Aero A-2 today in kind of a morose mood. As soon as my eyes start dripping again I'll take it off...
Get better Nick!
P.S. When you arrive to your workplace wearing such cool Aero A-2 Russet Vicenza HH - they should raise your salary at least twice after just looking!) Be well and have a nice weekend!

I do not mind the jacket length. JL jackets are short. Thats why i did my mod on two of them where they dipped the back with a gradual curve adding 1 inch. Like the schott 613. That put them at 24 inches for my size 42. Hits just above the back pants pockets on my 501s.
Fyi you can send alan that jacket he can repace the lower panel with a dipped one like mine for 80 bucks. I recently posted some pics check them out.

Well there are those who would wear it here even if their fit is just like yours. They have even commented that they think that fit is OK or that they even prefer its shortness. So those of that like- mindedness would buy it plus some one that actually has a shorter torso. Both buyers seem to exist. I'd list it for what I paid for it.

Can't lower the front, however.

The seller stated 24" length. Turns out the seller was including the collar.

Despite how it appears when unzipped, I do like my jackets to fit well when zipped. I may flip this one.

Easy fix, just untuck your T-shirt.

I don’t get the whole tucked T-shirt thing, dress shirt sure but a t-shirt is inherently casual, tucking it in doesn’t make it less casual and in this case it will hide the fact the jacket is a touch short.

Can you post a pic with your tee untucked? I’d also go for a darker colour T, black of you have one, less of a stark contrast between black and white.

I know a guy that it would probably fit well... short guy like me but with long arms (unlike me). But I don’t think he’s a jacket guy. Some of us are oddly shaped. I wear a 38 or 40, but with 23” sleeves and 23” length!

Well you can... but it will cost you. I have talked that through with alan. You can always add a 2 inch band or 3 inch band and center it so the front length is exactly what you want. But replace of main zipper is not cheap i think 125, plus back panel 80, plus come up with something for side panels. you could continue that front band around the side.

If u bought new and were going to lose 50 percent or more on the sale it would prlly be cheaper to do all that if you loved it otherwise flip it

Alan said he can pretty much do anything with exception of the shoulders

I'm not going to knee-jerk a decision on what to do with the jacket. I can only wear a t-shirt under it and it's too cold outside to wear now. As weather permits, I'll experiment a little and reevaluate the fit.
