Wearing my nemesis today… finally finished this cafe/J-100 mash up in 3.5-4oz CXL steer hide. I’ve always been interested in this hide, I’ve only had experience handling CXLFQHH. Color is burgundy and is really beautiful. Im very glad that I built a little extra room into this one as it is an absolute unwieldy beast of a jacket. This one took me twice as long to complete because getting these seams to lay flat was a workout. I have a new found respect for those who regularly use this weight of hide to make jackets. I feel like a spent a week getting my ass kicked by ninjas. Not cartoon ninjas, but the real ones. Do I want to make another CXL jacket? No thank you. My sewing machine is still weeping and giving me the side eye. Turned out alright though!

Excellent! This gem is even better than the one you made/posted about a while back. Beautiful color and the super clean design/lines make this a standout.

Thanks! It’s the same pattern as the last cafe racer that I made, but I worked an extra inch into the chest and a half inch across the shoulders to accommodate the thick hide. I made up a J100 collar and put the zips on top of the sleeves, being the only real differences. I hope this will eventually break in!

I think it's the color that makes this a standout compared to your first jacket. I have an Aero LHB in Cordovan CXLSH which I love due to the unique hue of the hide and its tremendous graining. The Burgundy color of your creation is much richer and workmanship appears flawless. It will be interesting to see how it seasons after extended wear.

Thanks for sharing such a splendid jacket with the Lounge.

Thanks. I was hoping to run into you. :)

Thanks. The crown-guard is a Panerai.

Thank you. Yes, Pheobe is a very rare color mix for a Frenchie.

Her parents are both black and tan, and both carry the blue gene. Their liter had three blues and one black and tan. We also have a brindle Frenchie (Atticus).

As empty nesters, our dogs are our children . . . and, in many respects, more lovable than our actual children.
