Lefty, what is your favorite McClelland? One of the Frogs I suppose?
HJ, although I did enjoy a tin or two of Frog Morton on the Bayou, I was partial to the McClelland Virginia blends, particularly Christmas Cheer. I first ran across McClelland and their aged Virginias from a special line they did for the Pipe Collectors Club of America, PCCA's "Noel" sometime back in the mid-90s.

Can't help you from my cellar Lefty. My favorites are alway English blends so I'm always looking for tins of McClelland's Legends & Scottish Woods. I have some cellared away but maybe not enough. Have some Frogs too.

Happy Summer Solstice!
Even though it is cool and drizzly here in Vienna, I’m hoping it will clear up by evening so that I can celebrate Mid-Summer’s night with a Romeo Y Julieta Churchill and two fingers of Glen Garioch single malt. Enjoy the longest day of the year. The long downhill run to Christmas is about to begin.

Usually I buy my cigars online out of a US supplier and have them delivered to a border town PO Box and bring them into Canada duty free at the end of a long weekend. But with the border closed that avenue is not available. Needless to say my humidor is running very very low. So today I smoke one of the fake Cohiba double coronas my Havana friend sent to me a few years back. They are not a bad smoke, acceptable for being only about a buck a piece. I cut one open at first just to see what the hell was inside. It is tabac, just not the full leaf. They look to be made with the tabac that ends up on the rolling room floor. The construction is okay but initially the draw is terrible and it takes about 1/3 to 1/2 way through before the draw opens up. But then I have smoked Cubans purchased at the local Habanos shop that were not all that much better.
I smoke them, remember my Havana friend and the interesting times in Cuba.

Presbyterian Mixture in a Peterson meerschaum billiard. Good smoke.

I do like that Presbyterian Mixture, but have never tried a meerschaum. I tried my best to get my Dad to buy one when I was a kid, but he was adamantly opposed to the idea.

Nothing for him but briar or a 1970s plastic abomination called “The Pipe” that he had a special affinity for.
