Hello Fedora Fans,

Well I am still busy working on my house, things are moving slower than expected, however believe it or not I managed to make Indiana Jones Raiders Style Fedora. This fedora is made with FEPSA 100% pure rabbit in size 7 1/4", with a dimensional cut brim.

· FEPSA 100% Rabbit Fur Felt, Sable Color hat size 7-1/4”

· Brim width is 2-7/8" front and back

· Brim width on the sides is 2-5/8”

· The crown has a tight pinch front, Raiders Style

· Crown Height front pinch 4-3/4”

· Crown Height in the back 4-1/2””

· Crown Height on the sides is 5-1/4”

· Crown Height 5” on both sides above front crown creases

· Hat band is 1-1/2” wide Grosgrain ribbon Dark Brown color

· Hat band bow is 5-1/2” long

· Dark Brown color leather sweatband is 2” wide with small white bow

· White Satin Liner with Gold piping with Busted Hats imprinted in the center

I shaped the brim by hand so no snap brim, the brim is, slightly turned down in the front and back with a little curl up on the sides.

I was going for the Indy look without the Fuller's Earth dusting, I have tried the Fuller's Earth treatment before, the hat size was 7 3/8" & everytime that I put the hat on, I would cough from breathing in the dust. I decided that I would not be putting Fuller's Earth on any hats that I sell.

Hello Fedora Fans,

I posted this hat on Ebay for sale the same day that I posted it here on the forum and last night someone purchased the hat.
This Fedora sold faster than I expected, I thought that it to be on Ebay for a month, so I will get it ready for shipping on Monday.
Making a hat right now while I am working on this old house helps me to keep my sanity, and I haven't touched the Bourbon yet.

Thank you and have a Great Weekend,
Darrell

Good luck with the project Darle, I feel your pain
Hi Art,

Thank you, I need all the luck I can get with this house project, at this stage it has become more of a career. We have ordered new cabinets and construction materials and the driver that delivered the drywall, dropped the green board and broke it and the FedEx driver dropped our cabinet and damaged it, this past weekend was a waste because we had to return the broken items. So I didn't get any work done on the house and this week is a tuff one, I am working on the house, no help.
Cutting 4 acres of grass and making a new hat is my only relief.
So far I have managed to make a hat for a customer and I just finished another Indiana Raiders style fedora.
I hope that you are ready for the Winter months and I hope that we have a mild Winter, because I maybe working on the house.

Now where did I put the Bourbon?

Have a great week,
Darrell

Hello Fedora Fans,

I am still working on this old house, however we are getting close to the finish line, hopefully before December.
I do manage to make a new fedora, the only thing that helps me to keep my sanity is making hats.
I just finished work on a Indiana Jones Raiders style fedora, the size is 7 1/4" dimensional cut brim.

This fedora looks pretty much like the last Indy that I made, there is a small difference in the hat band and bow.
When everything is back to normal around here I think that I may have to make a different style of hat, in a different color, blue, bone, camel, silver belly, or grey and with brim binding.
Here is a few photos for you to check out.

I guess that I will be posting this one on Ebay, I really don't want to post it there, direct sales cuts down on the total cost, no taxes or fees.

Have a Great Weekend,
Darrell

Today we will be putting the finishing touches on my house remodeling, and we will be moving things out of my work area, giving me more space for work and storage.
I decided to get started on another hat, this is a 100% pure rabbit in a dark blue, size 7 1/4" with a 5.5" open crown. I was looking at two colors a granite and the dark blue, the granite is more of a gray color, the photo that I attached the felt looks to be a shade of brown and now that the dark blue is blocked, it looks like a black color. I was thinking about making the blue felt a 7 1/2" hat size, my wife suggested that I make a 7 1/4". I have another felt in the same color, so I could make a 7 1/2" or a smaller size.
Check out the photos that I attached.
I will finishing up the house work either today or I will be finished by Monday.
Have a Great Weekend!

Hello Fedora fans,

The good news is, all of the work on our house is complete so now I can resume making hats full time. Good timing too because a customer contacted me and ordered a Western Style hat, so I put the felt on the block yesterday, a 200G weight Sable color 100% pure rabbit, 7 1/4" hat size.
The hat that I am making will be a copy of Rip Wheeler's hat from the series Yellowstone, I have been doing a bit of research on this hat, and I think that I have looked at this hat from all angles, during my research I discovered that there is a little change to the hat that I have not seen in any Rip Wheeler hat copies that are being sold.
As soon as I get this hat finished I will post photos.
I plan to add a few hat blocks to my work area, 62 & 63CM, I have a couple of 61CM blocks.
I am still working on the dark blue fur felt hat, I am thinking about putting a lite blue hat band on the hat and a dark blue color brim binding.

I hope that everyone is having a great week,
Darrell

Hello Fedora Fans,

I am still a little busy with house remodeling, which has been a real drag, I still have to install a prehung door for a closet in my work room, it is a learning process.

I am still working on the blue fur felt hat, I maybe able to put a hat band on it this afternoon, maybe is the key word here.

This is a Western style hat that I made for a customer, the hat is a Sable color, with a brown leather sweatband, a gold satin hat liner and I made the hat band using part of the felt hat body after cutting the brim down to a 4" width. The hat band has a nail inserted into it connecting the ends of the hat band, the hat band is sewn to the hat of course. Hat size is 7 1/4", felt weight is 200G, I have another felt, same color and weight on a 59CM block and brim cut to 4", a back up just in case of any problems, now I can make another hat if I want to do so.

Making a Western style hat is something that I haven't done in a long time, this hat was a real challenge, the goal was to make a hat that looks like Rip Wheeler's hat on the TV series Yellowstone, a series that I have never watched, so I was working from photos only.

I have posted a few photos for you to check out.
Let me know what you think of my hat work.

Have a Great week.
Thank you for your time and help,

Darrell

I decided that I would make a hat that is something that I haven't made or try to make in a while. The hat size is 7 1/4", brim width is 7 1/2", I tried to make a weathered western style hat, the hat band is made of leather 7/8" wide and I applied leather dye and some dark brown streaks to the hat band, here are some specs for this hat and some photos. Maybe I need to use the torch on this hat, there are a few people making hats using a torch, I am not really a fan of that idea, there is nothing like the smell of burning hair.

· 100% Rabbit Fur Felt, Sable Color hat size 7-1/4”

· Brim width is 3-1/2” with 3/8” pencil curl

· Crown Height front 4-1/4”

· Crown Height in the back 4”

· Crown Height on the sides is 4-1/2”

· Teardrop shaped Crown

· Hat band is 7/8” wide Brown Leather with Dark Brown Streaks

· Tan Color Leather sweatband is 2” wide with small black bow

· 2 Tone Satin Hat Liner, Black & Purple with Gold piping & Busted Hats imprinted in the center

Hello Fedora Fans,

I made another Western style hat, the felt weight is 200G and the color is sable, this hat has a 1/2" wide hat band made of weaved horsehair in brown & black colors, it is almost style the same way as the first cowboy hat that I made. Here is a list of the specs.

· 100% Rabbit Fur Felt, Sable Color hat size 7-1/4”

· Brim width is 3-7/8" front and back

· The crown has a Cattleman’s Crease

· Crown Height front 4-1/4”

· Crown Height in the back 4-1/4”

· Crown Height on the sides is 5-3/8”

· Hat band is 1/2” wide weaved horsehair brown & black colors

· Chestnut color leather sweatband is 2” wide with small black bow

· White Satin Liner with Silver piping with Busted Hats imprinted in the center

Here is something for you to look at, it is a challenge to make a cowboy hat when you have always made dress style fedora hats. My next hat will be a fedora.

Thank you for your time and interest,
Darrell

Hello Fedora Fans,

I have 1 of the 200G weight rabbit fur felts in the Sable color and I am thinking about making one more western style hats. I have been thinking about a Clint Eastwood style with a wide brim, 4" or more with a pencil curl of maybe 3/4" complete with the leather hat band that would go with that hat.
I am having trouble with deciding the hat size, so far all of the hats that I have made have been 7 1/4".

Maybe I should make the next hat in a different size?

Does anyone have a suggestion on hat size or even a different hat style?

I have a FEPSA felt in 100% pure beaver, khaki color on a 58CM RO block, hat size 7 1/8", I am going to put a brim binding of matching color on the hat and a brown hat band. I am thinking about a big pencil curl on the brim with the binding.

Does anyone have any suggestions on either hat or maybe a different style of hat?

Send me a PM if you want to.

Thank you for your time, interest & help,
Darrell

Hello Fedora Fans,

I decided to do something a little different with the hat that I just finished. I am working on brim bindings right now and so far I am improving with this part of the hat making art. Here is some information on my recent creation.

· 100% Beaver Fur Felt, Grey Color hat size 7-1/8”

· Open crown height 5-1/2”

· Brim width is 2-3/4" with matching color brim binding

· Brim turned down slightly in front

· The crown has a single crease across the top

· Crown Height at the front crease 4-3/4”

· Crown Height in the back at the crease 4-1/2”

· Crown Height on the sides is 5-1/4”

· Hat band is 1-1/2” wide Grosgrain ribbon Burgundy color

· Hat band & bow is 4-5/8” long, hat band & bow is a Art Fawcett creation, Thank you Art.

· Tan color soft leather sweatband is 2” wide with small white bow

· Brown Satin Liner with Gold Paisley print on sides

· Busted Hats imprinted in the center of the satin liner

Looking at this hat in low light the color looks brown or khaki, sunlight it looks grey.

Iet me know what you think.
Thank you for your time and interest,
Darrell

Thanks to everyone for the positive feed back, I thoght that I would try something new, I was going to make an open crown, but decided to just go with a single crease.
Thank you Art, the hat band really makes this hat stand out, I really like the two tone hat band bow knot.
Now I need another burgundy hat band setup the same way.
I have another felt that is the same color, the felt is different for sure because it changes color with the amount & type of light, when I first started working with the felt, I thought that it was khaki color..
I guess that I will be posting this one on Ebay for sale.

Hello Fedora Fans,

I finished another Indiana Jones Raider style fedora, it is posted on Ebay for sale, the size is 7 1/4" Sable color chocolate brown leather sweatband with a dimensional brim cut, 100% rabbit.
I need to make something different for a change, however my best seller on Ebay is the Indiana Jones Raider fedora. But I am thinking about a Clint Eastwood Good Bad Ugly in chocolate brown complete with leather hat band and a wide brim about 4"
Here are a few photos of my Raiders style fedora.

Contact me if you are interested in this fedora.
This is 100% pure Rabbit, I also have this color in 100% pure Beaver.

Darrell

Hello Fedora fans,

I made another fedora in steel blue, actually *** metal blue, however they call it steel. This hat is a 7 1/4" hat size, 3" wide brim, high crown, the hat band is a Art Fawcett creation, gray with a touch of burgundy in the bow know, the satin liner is dark blue with gold piping and of course Busted Hats label in the center. This fedora is on Ebay for sale, if anyone is interested, contact me and I will pull it off of Ebay to sell it to Lounge members. Here are a few photos.
This is 100% pure Rabbit in 115G weight, perfect for warm weather. I was thinking about putting a brim binding on this fedora, matching steel blue or gray. Gray brim binding would be a nice looking combo.
You can check out this fedora on Ebay:
https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?item=305023215883&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m3561.l2562&_ssn=dwb4926
We will work on the final cost complete with free shipping, no taxes, lower cost.
The Gray Beaver with the Art Fawcett burgundy hat band sold to a Lounge member, lower price than advertised.

Let me know what you think,
Darrell
