Does anyone have info on this hat, what it’s worth possibly? My uncle who passed a few years ago owned a hat business and sold Stetsons and this is one of the hats I found in box’s. I can’t seem to find it anywhere online aside from the newer 30x ones. Thanks

You’ve got a fantastic, high-end hat there! A Stetson 50X Genuine Shantung Panama as indicated on the tag model/style code 8504 EPTNC-R. The model number 8504 refer to the El Patron with a Cattleman crown crease. The sweatband stamp confirms it is a 50X Shantung straw, which is above the standard 10X or 20X straw models in Stetson’s western lineup. The 81 indicates Natural color, 40 denotes a 4-inch brim, and the -R / 7-1/8 R signifies a Regular Oval fit in size 7 1/8. The modern thermal barcode sticker (SS769183) and the gold-foil stamped black leather "JBS" (John B. Stetson) rope-link sweatband indicate modern production roughly 2010s.
