Hello all, I just received my fit jacket. I know Carrie will be able to make recommendations but I figured the wealth of knowledge on here could also help in this process. Overall I like the fit, it’s a little long in the body and sleeves. I’m also getting some bunching up of leather behind my shoulders and the mid back is puffed out just a bit.

Also, if an admin sees this I accidentally tried to post this as an article…

On the first picture I thought to myself "just keep them". In the other pictures. But it is actually a bit long. The sleeves, however, I find ok and the rest sits well.

I think the one thing I’d like is to see if they can bring in the mid back at all, it really puffs out, not sure if that’s going too far into pattern alteration for them or not.

Maybe it is a little wider at the back than necessary after all, but if it's shorter in the back, it won't stand on your hips and should puff out less.
In my last Aeros I have rather short in the back and increased the front drop a little in the front.

I didn’t even think about the fact that it sitting on my hips is causing that puffing. That may be my answer

It‘s a decent fit but I would reduce sleeve length by a good inch and bodylength by 1 inch or even 2 inch if they can add a 1“ frontdrop (making it 2“ shorter in the back, 1“ in the front.).

On a second look, I‘m even thinking maybe 2“ less in the sleeves, seeing how it rests almost on the bottom of your thumb.. but then again, sleeve length is much about personal preference

Chest, shoulders, and waist look good. Maybe an inch shorter in length and sleeves. It all depends how short you want the body length and sleeves. I personally hate short sleeves, but it’s a personal decision.

Also, I noticed on my Aero jackets that my requested measurements can be off by an inch or slightly more even though they said 1/2” variable is normal. If every measurement is off by an inch, it can drastically change the size of the jacket. I’ve never asked Aero to remake a jacket where the measurements were off, so not sure how they would handle it.

It's better to be a little too picky with the fit jacket, and give your feedback directly to Carrie, including the photos.

She will likely tell you the sleeve length looks good. It's acceptable as is, and if you intend to wear the jacket for motorcycle riding, you can keep it at that length. I would maybe ask for a half inch to an inch shorter, though, if you're not intending it for riding. Either way, the sleeves will crease as the leather breaks in, resulting in the sleeve shortening up a bit. It's not shrinking of the leather, but more like accordioning, when it does that, but the result is that the practical length of the sleeve will shorten a bit.

The back puffing out is something that could be improved, but I'm not able to say how that specifically would be best accomplished. Show the photos to your fitting expert and they'll advise what can be done about it They can determine which panels need to be adjusted and where.

Body length is a tad long as well. In my opinion, the Sheene should end about between the bottom of your belt and the top of your back pockets on your pants. It looks like it's a bit lower than that on you.

Where does the shoulder seam rest? At the edge of your shoulder or lower?

I only ask because it looks a bit wide across the back of the shoulder but seems to look good from the front when zipped. I wonder if the shoulder width could be brought in a touch to clean up the back.

I would bring up the body length by 3/4-1”. Sleeve length not more than 3/4”.

Keep in mind that alot of members here prefer a very short body and sleeve style. I do not but it is all personal and no real wrong decision.

I would ask about trying on a "Seven". It's the same jacket but based on the Board racer pattern which has narrower shoulders.
Your first photo looks great, but the others look too big up top.

Thurston adds an inch or so to jackets’ base pattern because Americans are generally taller than Brits, but I regret going along with this and frequently consider getting my jacket from them shortened. (I’m 6’1” and 26” isn’t inherently too long, but given the slim-straight cut of the Ridley, it looks like it’s even longer than 26”),

All of the sheene’s I’ve seen here have the large rear shoulders and excess leather bunching in the lower back. I think Aero would have to pleat the leather to prevent it since it is one piece of leather. You might also be able to alleviate the problem with a kidney panel.

I second looking into the Aero Seven as it is slim in the waist and then flairs out a little at the bottom hem. Very nice pattern if you want a longer back length. I was also told by Aero that they can’t do a front drop on the Seven and assume it’s the same for the sheene.

I was actually thinking the same thing about the shoulders, I think they could stand to be brought it about a quarter inch on both sides and it would look good, as far as body length goes I am looking to bring it up 2 inches in the back and 1.5 inches in the front. Sleeves I’m torn, my jacket will be in Vicenza and I don’t know how much creasing will take away in sleeve length in that leather. I’m thinking I’ll take atleast .5 inches off the sleeves for certain though

Looks a bit big everywhere, including length. Shoulders and back look too big from behind and I'd say length is too long as well.

So…..

I have the Seven style mentioned by several members above. It can be built to look almost exactly like the Sheen but does not have such a severe taper from the shoulders down to the waist. It is meant for us guys that do not have the walking V physique of gym rats and genetically blessed individuals. Judging by the shelf full of supplements shown in your post photos, I assume you are a weightlifter and this is probably why Carrie started you off with the Sheene instead of a Seven.

I would advise talking to Carrie about the Seven as an option but keep in mind that the size references change dramatically and you will likely be looking at a Seven that is two whole sizes above the Sheene You are now trying.

Also be aware that the Seven has higher armholes and narrower sleeve barrels that may be a problem if you are looking for more freedom of movement.

In the three years since I ordered my Seven, I started doing more upper body work related to shoulder therapy and notice it is a bit snugger in the shoulders than ideal. However, it looks great on me - according to the wife.

On body length, my Seven ends right at the bottom of my belt in front And right at the top of my jeans pockets in the rear. perfect for me.

The sleeves on my Vicenza Seven did not really shorten any with creasing. Not sure if this is due to the narrower sleeve but I have heard others comment that this really did not happen for them either. Ask Carrie.
