Need advice for my Aero jacket

Hello everyone

2 days ago I decided that it's time to give my very worn-out CXL Aero a treatment just to make sure it's not going to dry out in a 36° C climate.

And after I finished with the treatment I wore the jacket for a good 8 hours it felt nicer to wear. However I noticed that the grain has popped out after treatment and in certain areas (on left sleeve) that looked like some very very small ridges between the grains.

Here are some pictures that might help.

Should I be concerned about this? Could this be an indication to cracking or is it just the aging of the leather, especially a very worn-out CXL? Advice pretty much needed, thanks!

How did you treat the jacket? I’ve never seen that happen after a simple saddle soap cleaning and conditioning afterwards. I can’t see too well but it looks like water spots. Maybe the spots were already there and you couldn’t really see the spots until after the treatment? If so the spots may fade after wearing a few times.. how does it feel running your finger over the markings? Is it smooth or does it feel like the leather has separated some?

It looks like the leather is rotting out, there are sections where it is splitting apart and others where it is flaking apart.

Not sure what environment the jacket was stored in over the years or what "treatment" you used, but I am not sure if that jacket is salvageable. Take it to a good leather repair store and see what they suggest.

I used some oils and applied it on a clean microfiber. If you meant the dark spots yes they were already there and already had those wear that when touched it felt separated a bit on those exact areas around the dark spots before I treated the jacket with anything.

What's new to my eyes are those very very fine ridges that runs down on the leather surface. It still feels smooth to touch however.

Maybe I scuffed it a bit too rough? Or did I maybe just not noticed it before?

Hopefully these pictures help

I had a vintage Aero black horsehide jacket which had a bit of the look of this about it, I'd guess that jacket was twenty years old. The leather still felt fine and supple, it wasn't dry or flaking, and it never got any worse in the years I wore it.
