I just heard from Morten that the russet jackets will be going out this week. I'm going ahead and ordering, but I'm still wondering if I should go for a 38 pr 40. I normally wear a 38 sport jacket, with the exception lately of the super-skinny jackets some of the makers are coming out with...
My father was with the very first USMC communications units to land on Japanese soil. They had very strict orders not to harass the natives in any way. Despite this, he found a couple of his guys (he was a sergeant in charge of the unit) calling and harassing the locals and he had to discipline...
I'm really looking forward to it. I emailed them last night but haven't heard anything yet. Still wondering if I should order my regular size (38) or go up one. The details look about right and I'd like a good fit, but the last thing I need is another jacket that's just a tiny bit too small.
If I remember correctly, the first time this happened a couple of years back I spent some time searching the thread for the nasty comments that Andy claimed were directed against him. There weren't any. The most anyone said was that they didn't think the Liberty leather was the all-time greatest...
What, to me, is of particular interest here is the fact that Andy, of whom we've heard almost nothing for quite some time, must spend quite a bit of time trolling threads such as this searching for negative comments (real or imagined) and then immediately retaliating. What a way to live!
I think I'm pretty much sold and I'm leaning towards the new russet. I'll email them tomorrow. Thanks to you and Flightengineer for the great reviews, pics, and info.
We've had quite a cool winter down here in the Interzone, so I've gotten a lot of wear out of the old brown CXL HH LHB. I got the jacket in 2011 and have worn it on every possible occasion since then, especially when travelling. So it's funny that this thread popped up just now, as for the first...
I read some time ago that London (Londinium) was a tannery town in the times of the Romans and that, even then, there were serious pollution problems in the Thames.
That's one of my all-time favorite jackets. I couldn't help noticing in all the photos how much the colors blended in with the environment. If you stood on your head you'd disappear entirely.
Here's a question for the afficianados: I just received a pair of Florsheim reddish-brown, pebble-grain wingtips from an Ebay dealer. They were "pre-owned" but in beautiful shape, and I like them very much. They were advertised as "cordovan", but I was wondering if that word referred to the...
I got one of those pairs from our friend Tweedydon and just gave them a soak last weekend. They can still stand up on their own. Incredible pair of jeans, but those buttons are tough little buggers.
What initially attracted me to the jacket was its simplicity and working-class look, especially in the photo of Einstein wearing it. Just too expensive for this working class hero. I wish Wested would do one. Btw, there are some very interesting observations of Einstein in Count Harry Kessler's...
I'd never considered that jacket in that leather or color, but, man, that works beautifully. It's great when someone tries something a little different and it turns out so well.
