Hats and their paired Hat Boxes

Has anyone picked up a western stetson this year, that comes with their 150th anniversary hat box?

How do folks react to your hat wearing?

A fellow (the man is in his 30's) repeatedly calls me "Tex" because of the hat and boots. The first few times I ignored the comment and walked on. Now, I just respond by calling him various other states of the union. He will ask why I called him, for example, Colorado; I smile and tell him to...

Any idea on what a Grade 22 Montecristi is in WPSI?

Thus the "apple to apple" remark; meaning I would compare Stetson to other Stetsons and Biltmore to other Biltmores. :D

Any idea on what a Grade 22 Montecristi is in WPSI?

I would suggest taking a look at what Brent Black said about grading of Panama Hats: http://www.brentblack.com/pages/panamahatgrades2.html If I may echo Mike, you will need to "compare apples to apples."

Best Straw hat maker for Western/ Cowboy styles?

Any ideas on how to increase the stiffness of a straw hat? Can these hats be treated with hat stiffener that is applied to a felt body hat. I have some M&F Hat stiffener. Actually, I have a gallon of the stuff. As always, any guidance is greatly appreciated!

It is. I stumbled across last week. There was a gentleman from Texas adoorned with a western styled hat, his adult son dressed along the same lines, competing in a cook off. Myron Mixon, is a judge on the program. I have heard him prior to this but only from 2 people. Anyway, the gent...

What is your favorite hat crease?

These two charts are very similar but perhaps they help. These are mainly aimed at individuals who wear western hats but many of these are also seen in other types of hats.

    Pentagonal bashes

Thank you for sharing this image. I had an image in mind but I did not envision a pinched front. This is the first time I believe I have ever seen such a crease in a hat. Thank you once more.

    Western, anyone?

Thank you everyone. Steam was my initial guess as to what to use, but I was not confident that I had a full understanding. I will experiment with a straw hat I own and see what my hands are capable of. Thank you once more.

    Western, anyone?

What is the best way to shape an Open Crown Straw cowboy hat without cracking the straw? The open crowns I have encountered have also already been shellacked. I have been shaping some felts (Crown and Brim) and a few straws (brim only) and was recently asked if I could shape an open crown...
