Any idea on what a Grade 22 Montecristi is in WPSI?

Would anyone be able to let me know what the approximation in WPSI for a Grade 22 Montecristi? Thanks

Hi Peter, that's a tough question because it seems most hat retailers grade their weaves differently. Classic example of lack of standardization. Hopefully somebody who's bought a hat from your source can help out. Grade 22 sounds impressive but suppose it depends on how many other grades there are.

Grades seem to change between vendors. I agree with WPSI as one measure but would add that weave consistency and color attributes will play a role in overall grade of a hat as well.

Actually, a very good point. I saw a Borsalino Optimo that has a 400 WSPI, but is exquisite in its weave consistency and looks like a 900 easily. I`ve seen fine hats that have very inconsistent weaves - so have to agree with the consistency point. In fact more relevant than WSPI perhaps.
