    Cool (But Sold) eBay Stuff

They were nice enough alright, but there was a lack of 'salesmanship' on that listing. I'd love to have some wild patterned (more wild than those) '30s or '40s socks but the ones I've handled in person either have no real elastic or what was once there is dead. Just a crunching sound when you...

    Post New Hats Here!

As fond as I am about old Borsalinos, I'm usually not into their Open Road clone. Just seems wrong to me for an Italian outfit to do the American Western thing. BUT, that brown one you scored is pure magic. Ooowee, that's a nice lookin' hat!

    Post New Hats Here!

Try center and side dents (not front pinched) and let us see. Very traditional. After seeing Torpedo doing that number on one of his hats recently, I was inspired to try it. On certain hats it's kinda' growing on me...

    Hatbox Homage

That Adam box of Scott's is beautiful with the blue. I've got a more generic one: This is one of my favorites: Here's one that's purely functional: This is the seller's pic from an old auction. By the time this hat arrived, the box was demolished. :( This steel tube contained...

More bad luck with an unreeded sweatband

Sure can be a tedious process (one that can sometimes make a hat feel more your own) but if the leather really is still tough, it's possible to re-sew it through the original holes. Problem is that those toppers are such stiff cans. I have one with no ribbon and will need to rectify that but...

    Hatbox Homage

Here's a fancy one. The hat sitting on it (the one which came in it when I made the purchase) is not the 'Privateer' but I was lucky enough to get that actual model later to complete the set. :)

A "Buy it Now" impulse purchase!

Not an expert on age of these but the label has that mid-century feel alright. The grain is beautiful and remember, black is always really dark red or dark blue or dark brown - so dark it appears black. The Fonz's jacket was actually a dark brown. "Heyyyyyyyy". :)

Had anyone ever been tempted to stop hat wearing?

I've never had to use it but I'm ready with this one (wouldn't work outside of the U.S. though): "So who put that outfit together for you; FEMA?" :D

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

Thanks! I remember that I tip-toed off with this one for cheap. It was new old stock, even came in one of the dealer boxes which are for multiple hats. Below is the auction photo in its open crown state. I believe it was one of those listed as a 'bowler' and without mention of "Whippet". Because...

    Best Dressed Muppet

And those high arm holes on the jacket. What wonderful tailoring. Such range of motion. They just don't do 'em like that any more...

What are some of your favorite "electronics" of the golden era?

Yeah!! That's the holy grail for us harp players too, y'know. Four tens, a few tubes and a fat tone. Wonderful.

That'll look great with a proper crease. My brown one is one of my favorite fedoras. Congrats.
