I'm surprised I haven't posted in here! My favourites...
From CASABLANCA:
*Whistle!*
"This Cafe is closed until further notice! Clear the room at once!"
"You can't close me up, on what grounds!?"
"I'm shocked! SHOCKED! To find that GAMBLING is going on in here!"
"Your winnings, monsieur!"...
Mrs. Doubtfire.
Poor Mr. Williams. May he rest in peace, since he certainly didn't seem to get much of it in life. The world has lost an irreplaceable comic genius.
Been mucking around with the polish a bit lately. I heard that you can use olive oil as a metal-polisher (or at least as a sort of lacquer to protect metal), so I gave it a shot.

"The Shadow" is one of my favourite fictional characters. I SERIOUSLY think a nice, period-set movie (and something better and more in-depth than the Baldwin production) is long overdue. I think it could make a great movie/TV series.
Definitely NOT one size fits all. You have to be careful with what size braces you buy. If you buy the wrong size, even at their shortest/longest contraction/extension, they'll still be too big/small for you.
The braces I buy are always secondhand and cheap, so I've never paid more than about...
I don't care about that. I'm not selling it. At any rate, give it a few decades and don't polish it, and it would look like the picture on the left again, anyway.
Thanks DNO.
I like tinkering with, fixing/repairing and restoring stuff, as some people on the Lounge might know. Many people I've spoken to have suggested that dental picks/tools are ideal for work like this, since they're naturally used to small, cramped spaces.
Next time I get my hands on...
That's a cartridge pen.
Fountain pens were designed in an era before post-it notes and white-out. So they're not designed to write through/over them.
If you've clogged the nib with glue (which sounds likely), then empty the pen completely and flush it through a few times with warm water...
Today:
Dental picks, for restoration work.
Oil-can, for sewing machine.
"THE CITY WHISTLE - PATENT" by the Joseph Hudson ACME Whistle Co...for fun!
According to my research, this whistle is at least 100 years old. And it still sounds great!
One word I cannot stand. I wish it would go away. Now. Please.
"Tactical"
I'm sick of hearing this word applied to ABSOLUTELY BLOODY EVERYTHING!
Tactical flashlights.
Tactical walking sticks.
Tactical fountain pens.
Tactical watches.
TACTICAL CHOPSTICKS (WTH IS THAT???)...
Almost certainly 100% Chinese.
Both my grandfathers were born in southern China in the early 20th century (ca. 1907 for my dad's father).
Both my grandmothers were Peranakan/Straits Chinese living in the British Straits Settlements.
In all likelihood, we'd trace our roots back to Canton...
I don't own any personally, but my old piano teacher owns a 1900s Richard Lipp & Sohn upright with the original ivory keys. It's a beautiful instrument.
I have a minor hearing-loss in my left ear. I have no desire to lose any more!!
My cousin LOVES his music BLASTING LOUD. My uncle went into his bedroom and stuck up all these stickers about how if you lose your hearing, it won't ever come back.
...I'm not sure if my cousin ever paid...
