    What Are You Reading

I am reading the first issue of The Australia Times - History It has taken three months of researching, writing, rewriting, editing, proofreading, editing, last-minute hiccups, searching for photographs, taking more photographs, collecting sources and references, and anxious waiting, but...

    Buttoning the vest

I wear vests all the time. I've never bothered with this rule. I button them all, all the time. But then, most of my vests are 5-button ones. Buttoning four and leaving one undone looks sloppy. If you ARE going to follow this rule - and there isn't really a reason why you shouldn't - then it...

    Britishisms sneaking into American vernacular

"Cheers" generally means 'thanks', but it can also mean "Goodbye". "Here Johnny I brought along another sandwich 'cause I know you can't leave the office today..." "Oh cheers Adam!" Here in Australia we do use a lot of Britishisms for obvious reasons. And I have heard 'Cheers/cheerio' used...

Hitler Caught Napping - War Over

When you think about it, it was the Nazis themselves who proved that static, immovable defensive structures were useless in an age of mobile warfare. It begs the question why they bothered to build the Atlantic Wall in the first place, if they knew this was the case.

As A Kid, What Were You Like?

Hehehe!! Noo, not really! Yes, still a major bookworm.

As A Kid, What Were You Like?

    1. A bit of both. Depended on the situation. 2. Couch potato. I was a SERIOUS bookworm, almost to the point of fault. 3. LEGO, model trains, or my teddybear :) 4. Pool, Swimming, Hockey. 5. Small. Really small.

    "Your Fire Department" (1949)

Using bangalore torpedoes to blast in walls is hilarious! What was the reasoning behind that?? "Hell it's already on fire. Who cares!?" Fire-poles are fun. I remember sliding on one when I was in school. We had it in the playground. I think you can still have fire-poles, but they come with...

    Need some help.

This is why you take photographs of everything you restore. A digital camera is your best friend. I'm not sure that a year is enough. Surely people will need to know the actual MODEL of the typewriter to help as well? I suggest you visit the Typewriter Talk forum. They might be able to help you.

Golden Era Things You've Revived Or Repaired For Use

It begs the question though: What were such tiny boxes originally used for? Their capacity is so small. What 'pills' would they have originally held?
