Waht do you call the soft straw hats?

A soft, pliable hat depends on many things. One is the materials used, but another is how the hat is finished (I believe some modern hats are stiffened with some sort of additive. I was told once what it was, but I've forgotten the name. It's some spray-on stiffening agent to make the hat hold...

    Let's see your mechanical watches

Square/rectangular watches were very popular in the 1930s and 40s, I believe. If I remember rightly, they were correctly called 'Tank' watches, due to the blocky shape. I think they look very Art Deco and of their time. Angular and clean lines.

Sadly, the bobbins that my friend produced weren't Singer bobbins. But I've held onto them anyway, just in case they should prove to be handy in the future.

They were called "Duplex-Drive" tanks, because they could be driven on land or sea. Shortened to "DD" tanks. Colloquially, they were nicknamed: "Donald Duck" tanks by the crews.

    Any writers?

Thanks! The first edition is basically complete. I sent it off to be proofread. And then once I've finished sorting out all the pictures, I will send it off to the Chief of Staff to have it run through the production-team in preparation for publication. I HOPE to get it done by the end of the...
