I have to agree with you. I have grown very accustomed to the feel and look of these ties. The patterns are limitless, and there are so many to find in thrifts or online. I'm guessing these haven't grown on Japanese buyers yet :rolleyes:
I have to say, the hat looks very unscathed for one that's supposedly endured (at least) 3 owners. I feel like that defies the purpose of owning the hat, unless it was some heirloom?? Wear your hats, people!

This is a pretty damn good score, Edwardian trousers in a store in...Iowa. It's bizarre how vintage stuff gets shifted to their polar opposite environments--I've heard New York City shops garner a lot of vintage Western gear, how ironic
Both hats' surfaces do look very similar. Were you pleased with your Optimo? Is the quality noticeably different from hand-woven? I'm assuming this Sea Spray is on the lesser quality spectrum of Panamas?

I did not want to make a separate thread about this-- Does anyone know if a tailor can shorten a suit jacket by 2 inches? I read an article on alterations that stated doing any more than 1 inch isn't worth the risk. Can anyone confirm or deny this?
I always thought Asian collectors to be more protective of their collectibles. I'm sure the highly sought after stuff like 1930s sports suits are still going for a King's ransom over there. Those collectors know what they have.
