I mentioned a little while ago my delight at picking up another Carhartt Sheffield jacket.

That's their take on the N-1. It's nothing like an Iron Heart or a Real McCoys, but it's tough enough for me.

I had one before in navy blue but my usual size Medium was just too fashionably snug for me. I wanted a Paul Newman fit, not a fashionable fit.

So I've seized up one, and this time managed to find one in olive green.

I didn't even really need to wear it today either, as it isn't actually cold enough, but after a Summer of relentless heatwave temperatures, 15°C and pouring rain felt like enough justification.

And apologies for the dreadful shop mirror selfie.

It might deserve a crossposting in the deck jacket thread.

Low 30s this morning brought out my IDF officer's jacket. It's kind of a B-15 meets MA-1.
Howdy Robert,

YES, your post is from 2016 and it's now September of 2026 but what the heck, I thought I'd reply nonetheless.

When I was fifteen years old in 1980 I went to Israel on a teen-tour and came back with a lot of memories and a fake IDF flight jacket which eventually was issued to all officers while pilots eventually wore an MA-1 style jacket with epaulets, if memory serves.

This pic is me in high school (1980-1983) getting a backseat ride in a T-6 Texan belonging to the senior squadron of Civil Air Patrol, the famed "Condor Sqdn" in Van Nuys, California.

I have no idea what became of that jacket but when I moved to Israel a few years later I got to wear lots of authentic IDF issue...

Simmons Bilt J100 cafe racer repro in black goat. On a riverside walk way north of town.
Worn unzipped 99% of the time as the 2-way RIRI zipper is a pain.
Actually, any 2 way zipper I have ever owned is a pain.
"Keep It Simple Stupid"......
Nice jacket! I’m jealous it’s cool enough where you are to be able to wear one. I share your sentiments about 2-way zippers. The one on my Lewis Leathers Bronx was more trouble than it was worth.
