Public service announcement for anyone who has not yet handled it. Horween Aspen is fantastic stuff and represents another top tier vegetable tanned hide option.

Behold this Cherubim Leathers masterpiece in the burgundy color Aspen. I’ve never seen a more beautiful color and it’s so comfortable and drapes right out of the box. A simple straight zip design that lets the hide do all the talking. My favorite detail besides the fit and finish is how amazingly Mark cut the panels. In particular the horse mane part of the hide running all the way down the back. Spectacular!

@Mrfrown cheers! Is this another one of your Vanson projects? Sounds interesting, I'm sure you'll enjoy the end result because this leather is really top notch!

Aero Highwayman on a cool and windy beach day, after morning coffee.
Blue Label bought thru' the Lounge.
Russet and my best smelling jacket.
No good on the bike this as no zipper sleeves (and I have so many bike appropriate jackets anyway).
Horses for courses

Hi Jay. My guess is that 42 is too small for you by some margin. I have the Chore jacket in the kakishibu hide and wear a 46. Although the rough out will be a bit more forgiving these run small and wear more restrictive than the numbers on The Shop‘s webpage suggest.

I am a 44 in most things Y2 but size up in the western shirts and this one.

My very inappropriate guess would be that you could do a 44 for a “fashion look” and a 46 for a more “working coat” style.
TJ is always very helpful when it comes to comparing size and fit to other pieces from his selection.

My first Johnson Leather jacket arrived in the same Maryam blue "ocean" wash hide but wow you can really see how color can vary from batch to batch with leather.

Type II front/type III panel back with a little Mister Freedom flavor on the pockets. Johnson Leather is everything you read about. They took my inspiration for this jacket and executed it with precise finish and measurements. Through it all Damon was excellent to to work with. At 4+ oz of glorious veg-tan horsehide JL really delivered the goods on this beautiful beast!

So ends my mini series of heavyweight wash "equine" denim jackets.
