Downton Abbey. I saw something on Twitter that said how funny it is that now everyone wants to be Edith instead of Mary! And I concur. Edith's life is much more interesting than Mary's.

I like Edith now as well. She's grown in so many ways and nice to see her standing up for herself and no longer being a doormat for others... Can't wait to see her settle accounts with Merciless Mary. That witch has a beat down comin' fer sure!

Episode 6 of "Man in the High Castle." I can't say enough about how good this show is. I've been avoiding the "...High Castle" thread we have going as I don't want to stumbling into spoilers, but once I've finished season 1, I'm looking forward to going through it to see all the interesting things you all have had to say about the show.

I too was surprised as to the quality of the show. There has been some really good tv out the here the past few years if you look outside the big three networks.

TJ Dillashaw vs Dominic Cruz
Saw that as well. I had Dillashaw 3 rounds to 2. He landed more often and the harder shots. Cruz's takedowns were weak as he did absolutely nothing with them. Having good defense doesn't mean anything if you are being out hit. As with Lawler and Condit, I don't know what the judges are seeing or their criteria for scoring a round. They are too inconsistent. Lawler and Cruz have been gifted too many times. Cruz was out landed, knocked down three times, and taken down multiple time by Faber a few years back and given the decision. Vent/Rant over.

It's amazing. In general, I think there are better quality TV shows than movies being made today (plenty of junk in both as well), but a big switch from when the best quality in movies clearly trumped the best quality in TV.

I just started to watch "Deadwood" and after two episodes have seen enough to continue for a while yet. Not totally invested just yet into committing to all three seasons. Have a bit of trouble with the Gem saloon owner, he plays it a bit too on the nose and Calamity Jane is a bit of a cartoon but I love Wild Bill and Montana.

I find myself watching more of Netflix, HBO et al and less movies. In a series it gives the writers more room to develop character and show the arc than a 120 minute movie allows. There is a downside to that that has arisen in some of the series in that if there is a lack of character arc I tire of watching the main characters just repeating the same behaviour time and time again. It becomes repetitive, dull and boring. But luckily there are enough good series out there to keep me more than occupied.

You nailed it with Jane. Sweringen, as time moves on, steals the show.

Masterpiece Mystery: Sherlock: The Abominable Bride. Wish I had seen some previous episodes, I am lost!

You're not missing much with this one. Suffice it to say, the episode boils down to this:

Man is asleep on plane. Man wakes up, leaves plane, and gets into car. Steven Moffat ladles a pile of self-serving rubbish all over it, so that we can all understand just how clever he thinks he is. The End.

If you're interestred in Sherlock, watch the first two series, which are superb, then stop there and pretend they never made any more. The third series and this latest special are the Phantom Menace of Sherlock Holmes.

Looking forward to the new season of Sherlock.

I think the next thing due is another special in 2017 (Freeman and Cumberbatch being rather busy elsewhere these days). I'll probably skip it, though... since the third series onwards, it's been as abysmyl as the first two were wonderful.

I disagree. :) I rather like all three seasons of Sherlock and loved The Abominable Bride.

Huzzah! I can't wait to discuss details with you! And I'm very, very excited that it's been renewed for a second season.

Post deployment I'm playing catch up. Still recovering from jet lag, I woke up and watched the first episode of Fear the Walking Dead. A very interesting take on things and quite enjoyable. I'm certainly looking forward to the rest of the series. Vancouver BC has never looked more tropical!

As a lifelong resident of Vancouver I need watch this show. To hear Vancouver and tropical in the same sentence is revelatory.
True movie magic!

I mentally played the games "spot the digital palm tree" and "spot the digital skyline"! I do understand that a few long shots and scenes were shot elsewhere, but Vancouver was the primary production site.
