Just finished volume 1 of my rental, The Saint TV series. It's one of my favorite shows, and Netflix is offering it again for the first time since who knows how long.

Top Gear, the american version.

Yes, I would own a Yugo, only to be able to abuse a car like they did and not feel bad about it.

Titanic: The Mission
A team of four engineers reconstruct elements of the Titanic using, as much as possible, the techniques of the period. Among the elements reconstructed in the series are a 30-foot section of the bow, the anchor, an electric oven (cutting edge technology in 1912!), a section of the 1st Class smoking room, a 3rd Class cabin, a distress flare, a lifebelt, and the restoration of a Marconi wireless.

Episode 4 would probably be of particular interest to Loungers because it shows the technique of tanning the leather used for the reproduction of the 1st Class smoking room chairs.

Homes Under the Hammer - some good renovations but also sadly some beautiful Victorian homes having any shred of character ripped out and replaced with ghastly modern fittings.

Don't do it James! Sometimes it just puts me in a bad mood - seriously!

I watch the programme every morning and when I see who has bought what at auction I try to gauge whether they will keep any period features (usually if they are buying to live in the property) or whether they will rip everything out to rent the property out. I have seen wonderful and sympathetic renovations and I have seen the complete oppostite - marble fireplaces ripped out, ceiling roses taken down, beautiful bannisters replaced with vapid modern woodwork and gorgeous stained glass hall doors replaced with cheap white PVC doors. Scandalous.

Touchofevil - Criminal is a good way to describe the way some people treat these beautiful and historic homes.

Foyle's War, Series 6 (the last one). I'm recovering from hysterectomy surgery, so will be watching a LOT of stuff the next few weeks...
