I enjoy "Bletchely Circle," the period sets and clothes are beautiful, but it wouldn't kill them to be a bit less cryptic with the plots, especially in season two. There are plenty of smarter people than me in the world, but in season two, I found myself struggling to follow some of the plots lines.

Anime is the worst for inscrutable plots. I watched the whole series of Darker than Black, and I still don't know what it was about. The biggest Aha! moments were recognizing voice actors from other series.

You made me laugh. But it's a balance, some confusions and complexity is what makes a plot interesting and it keeps you watching, but if it becomes inscrutable, one can start to lose interest. "Bletchley Circle" sometimes slips into the later. Even when I'm confused, I still watch it for the period sets and clothes, but then, if I figure out what is going on, I am beside myself with happiness. "Foyle War" could be like this sometimes as well.

Finally watched the season ending episode of "Manhattan." This show does it all well, IMHO. The story is complex, but you can follow it. It has enough tie to history to be interesting (but you have to accept some "fast and loose" with facts). The characters are interesting, the acting is fantastic and, for our little community, the period sets and clothing are insane eye-candy. Also, some of the cinematography - especially the wide angle shots - feel very Edward Hopper like. I checked and it has been renewed for another year - thankfully.

Perfect Storm: Disasters That Changed The World. "God's Wraith" Lisbon, Portugal, 1755. Not sure about the title, apparently God doesn't approve of church attendance. If you wondered why Portugal went from a Super Power, to not very important, this explains why!

Agreed, they kept coming back. Odd, but the Jets (full name: the Horribly Embarassing Jets) did the same thing on Sunday. Not enough to (God forbid) win, but they were in there punching to the end.

I've been enjoying The Doctor Blake Mysteries. It's about an Australian doctor who returns home after a 30 year absence to take over his late father's practice. It's set in 1959 Ballarat, Victoria. He's a GP but also serves as the police department's medical examiner. Although a wonderful physician, he deals with the "demons" of having been a POW in a Japanese prison camp during WWII and is still searching for his wife and daughter who disappeared when Singapore fell to Japan. It also has a great supporting cast.

He's a GP but also serves as the police department's medical examiner. Although a wonderful physician, he deals with the "demons" of having been a POW in a Japanese prison camp during WWII and is still searching for his wife and daughter who disappeared when Singapore fell to Japan. It also has a great supporting cast.

That sounds really good - it looks as if, so far, it hasn't aired in the US and I couldn't find it on Netflix. Is anyone in the US watching it? If so, and if you would be kind enough to say, how? Thank you.

It wasn't the theme, it was the way they presented it. "We're going to sneak into The Hoff's dressing room." With a camera crew that, mysteriously, no one notices. Right. Then, they didn't build a KITT kit car, they bought one. Okay, so it needed work, and they had time constraints, but the guy with more money than brains said he wanted them to build one for him; right there The Hair violated the terms of the bet. And, of course, it comes down to "We have to get this car to Las Vegas in a ridiculously short amount of time, so let's take three or four days and film a stupid dream sequence. Someone get Erik Estrada on the phone." :frusty: Even as mindless entertainment it failed across the board. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

By the way, some of the first season of Knight Rider is watchable, but it really went downhill after that.

Actually, one of our local PBS stations also has an all-British shows channel and this is where I'm watching the series. You can also pre-order the first season of the series, which will be released I believe on 1/20/15, at http://shop.bbc.com/us/page/home - not affiliated with, etc. I also like the Father Brown mysteries, which is set in the 1950s, and Amazon wasn't offering the second season so I ordered it from this site - it's in the U.S., I called just to make sure - and I received it in a few days, no muss, no fuss.

Likewise, I like it a lot. Craig McLachlan has come a long way since the '80's when he played Henry in Neighbours. As Dr Blake he wears a rather nice carbon grey Akubra 'Stylemaster'

I like KITT. William Daniels got some more money out of the voice role too I see. His voice has changed slightly wih age though. Heck he is 87 now....it should be different.
