Ben Franklin's Balloons. 120 years before the Wright brothers flew at Kitty Hawk, two French men, Pilatre de Rozier and Marquis d'Arlandes ascended in a hot air balloon constructed by the Montgolfier brothers, thus becoming the first humans to fly. It was witnessed by the most famous man in Europe at the time, Benjamin Franklin.

Some reality show about a freak show. Very interesting subject matter, same sad reality show format. Not as if I was expecting anything else.

Great show!

A coworker told me about Raising Hope, and now that I've watched 3 episodes in a row, I can't stop myself. :scared:
I may check it out. Garret Dillahunt was the terminator on the excellent and unfortunately short lived Sara Connor Chronicles.

"Olive Kitridge" If Frances McDormand doesn't get an emmy for this one I will riot. The first 2 hours of this mini-series was amazing. Catch it on HBO on demand if you can. Episode 3 was "alright" if a bit predictable but man I enjoyed th 3 hour binge watch of this one... but I'm paying for it this mornin!

Recorded and waiting on the DVR to be watched. The problem is the queue is stupid long - several episodes of "Manhattan," "Boardwalk Empire" and "The Paradise," as well as, several TCM movies sit ahead of it. Between work being a bit busier (good), some life stuff (nothing bad, just issues to deal with) and the NFL absorbing Sunday viewing time, I'm horribly behind, but read a review of "Olive Kitridge" and DVR'd it and now, with your review, I will definitely watch - when in the future is the issue.

Frances McDormand doesn't give a bad performance and, usually, gives a great one. One of my favorite of hers is her role as the mother in "Almost Famous," a silly, but very enjoyable movie about a flash-in-the-pan '70s rock band and how it impacts those in its orbit during its moment of fame. She steals every scene she is in.

^^^^ You my friend have some viewing to do! Yeah watching programs has it's ebbs and flows. Some days you hit everything in sight and others you can't seem to catch a moments breath. Here's hoping you get some down time.

I watched it and liked it, though I was sort of amazed how unlikable they made McDormand's character. Tactless... No inner filter... Autocratic... Angry. They really tamped down her usual friendliness.

I thought the MVP of the production was Richard Jenkins as her husband. I'd like to see an Emmy nom for him too. He's long been one of the best "ordinary everyman" character actors out there.

The Blacklist.

When are they just gonna tell us that Lis is Redd's daughter? We all know it.
My guess is that they're either saving it for the final episode, or for when the ratings drop substantially.

James Spader is the only reason I'm still watching the show; the rest is standard boilerplate spy procedural with a bit of phony-baloney mixed in. Good performances, but it's getting to be too "routine" for my tastes.

Yeah, I wouldn't be watching the show at all if he was not in it.

Same here. Maybe Carol will stir things up a bit like she did at Terminus? Maybe even convince some of the folks holed up there to bust out and join forces.
About The Walking Dead- I tend to drift off when Beth is onscreen but last episode was redeemed with the appearance of Carol at the end!
