I gave these a cold soak before wearing them. First, I gave the top block a warm soak for a little extra waist and hip shrinkage, which worked really well. I want a fuller leg for engineer boots but I don’t need them hanging off my ****. I think it worked well, but I’ll know for sure once they completely dry.

These just arrived: Bronson 1955 501 fit. The 9.5” hem will be ideal for engineer boots and the quality is actually really good for $100!

I've had a few caps from Bronson, and been very pleased with all of them. A couple of civilian eight-panel styles, A3 caps in blue (one standard, one 'PoW') and green, and Daisy Maes (blue denim, green, camo). Very decent for those at about a third of the price of the Japanese equivalents (which, tbh, I don't consider to be appreciably better). My A3 caps were slightly mislabelled; the USAAF decal reads "Army Air Force" rather than "Army Air Forces". Not an issue for me really - I'm not a reenactor, picked these up for general wear. I believe this has been corrected more recently, however, if what I've seen of newer runs online is accurate. I've been very impressed with everything I've seen from Bronson, tbh - the only reason I'm not experimenting with their jackets and jeans is the sizing. Jeans don't appear to come any bigger than a 38W that I probably will never be again, and jackets all appear to top out at a size to two sizes below what I'd need. If they improved the size range, I would have thought they could really do well in the Western market given the way prices have gone for the Japanese stuff in recent years.

Nice. I like Prison Blues. Had a couple of pairs years ago. My current pair are the work-jeans with the hammer pockets and the braces studs like on yours. Picked them up a few years ago in a sale when the UK supplier was closing down (they were the EU-distributor for the brand, but the regulatory changes post-Brexit rendered the business impractical to run form the UK, so they ended up shutting up shop). Compare very favourably to my Wrangler MWZ13s. The Wrangler has a more reassuringly hefty zip, but to be entirely fair to the PBs I've never had one of their zips fail on me. They're a great project too. Ideally I'd like an inch more in the rise on them (compared to the Wranglers), but I like them very much. Be interesting to see what they could do with selvedge. I've considered a pair in black too, though that might have to wait for a while now it means buying direct from the US which has gotten very expensive (particularly for shipping) in recent years.

Hard to beat for both comfort and price - and durability. I lived in a couple of pairs of them for the Covid years. After about two years' heavy wear, they started to fray a little between the upper thighs, so I patched them and that sorted them for another few years.

I have some of their officer chinos and really like them. I was a LOT more skeptical on jeans … China isn’t really known for selvedge denim production. But these have a wonderful, soft and slightly hairy feel to them and the cut (copied from Sugar Cain I suspect), is exactly what I was looking for. Too early to judge construction, but I don’t see any obvious flaws.

No - no Jorts here.

But I'm out and about quite a bit during the day, well air-conditioned home & home office thankfully. Always keeping the jeans & kakis at the ready if there's a need, however. Just had a poke a little fun as it's the summer time now.

I get it! I’m working from home today, so professional attire from the waist up. I seriously considered linen shorts for comfort this morning, but the chance to get more fades in my new jeans was irresistible hahah.

Copped some Oni 15oz crushed concrete denim. Already soaked and hemmed. Really loving the texture on these jeans, it’s hard to capture it. The loose weave feels nice and airy but also the nep is great for capturing heat. Def a fall/winter jean

I also have some 20oz secret denim waiting to break in. Very sweat pant like. Soft and loose. Not at all like other 20oz denims.

Today I got my first Iron Heart in their 17oz Duck Canvas. What a spectacular fabric! Totally in love...

As IH always gives rise to a lot of "observations", here are two of mine:

- Ordered day before yesterday in UK, delivered today, including customs clearance. That´s pretty awesome, me thinks.

- I ordered the 555 until first going for the 666 that didn´t fit right. Looking at the size chart, I have to note that the 555 in my size measures 2,5 inch more in the waist than the 666 in the same size. Which madness is this...?!?

Awesome Tom, congratulations! I’ve been eyeing that fabric as well.

I wear 666and 634 cuts. They’re all slightly different due to the shape of the top block and thighs mostly.

I also measure a pair of jeans that fits me well and then I compare those measurements to the IH chart. Works like a charm.

I guess I should have checked the size chart before placing the order. I don’t mind slight deviations in numbers as I tend to size up a bit, but 2,5” at the waist? That’s a full size! A bit like Aero or Vanson where anything between 40 and 44 is possible, depending on model…

For what it’s worth, I’m a size 32 in Diesel for example, but I wear 35 in IH. There no real direct correlation, but interesting that you and I are similar…

if I measure the waist on my size 32 Diesel, they actually meaure 17.5” (x2) or 35.

Its sort of the same for all their clothing, I’m a double **l in their shirts (mostly) and I’m usually a large in North American shirts and sweaters.

Once you have your measurements down, I find that IH is super easy to get a good fit. You just have to be prepared to throw vanity sizing out the window lol.

I have these in 777 and agree the fabric is GREAT. IH sizing is umm.. interesting! I’m a 33 in the 666 and 777(could do a 34 here), a 32 in their 814 Wabash painter(best fitting pants I own), and probably a 30-31 in their 888. I was absolutely swimming in the top block of my 32 888s.

Yeah duck canvas is nearly indestructible! I have a pair I’ve beat to hell and other than random grease/paint/oil the fabric is still going strong.

Current pair I am focusing on and have been enjoying quite a bit are these Full Count “wwii” 0105s in the denim with the brown weft.

The brown weft isnt really noticeable yet but after cutting off all the extra thread they’re fabric is really nice and has decent texture for a lighter weight denim.

Wrangler 13MWZ today, as I wear most days. They're hard to beat at about 25 bucks at the feed store, and I love that the broken twill allows for much less leg twist than anything else. Plus, as a gangly guy, it's nice that it's easy to find them in 32x36, as I like a little stacking for boots. I've been looking for a nice pair of japanese denim, but it seems like most of them only do broken twill as a one-off, if they even do them at all, and it's hard to find longer inseams. I'm kind of surprised that more of the Japanese manufacturers don't offer Wrangler repros.

Cowboy Cut Wranglers, like the one your Feed Store sells, previously were my favorite "daily driver" jeans.

Then I started seeing a Chiropractor for Saitic issues and keeping my wallet out of my back pocket, and everything changed. The Wranglers simply have shallow front pockets and are snug enough around the waist area that there is not much give. Unfortunate, as they were a deal and generally speaking, comfortable and durable.

Not exactly denim but since there seems to be a little latitude in the thread I’ll mention my Indigofera Swearengen pants. Purchased this summer. Getting sporadic wear as they feel about 13 oz and are a little heavy for summer. Perfect cut for my body type and the texture of the fabric is fantastic.
I can’t fathom how you guys are wearing ih 666 or 555. They strangle my thighs and mine are not particularly sturdy.
