Is this just west of Hanoi? I rode a pushbike from Hanoi to Dien Bien Phu about ten years ago and passed through an area that looked like this. Northern Vietnam is absolutely beautiful.

Not quite! That area is in southern Vietnam, specifically Da Lat, Lam Dong. Northern Vietnam is a different region altogether.

It’s generally less cold here than Dien Bien Phu. The atmosphere is more dreamy, with beautiful sunshine and a distinctly southern Vietnamese feel.

If you ever get the chance, you should visit southern Vietnam around late October or early November. I think you’d really enjoy experiencing it during that time!
