Sorry to hear that mate, sounds like a rough outcome :( Gorgeous jacket I'm sure (can't tell from the photos). Fingers crossed that this becomes a strong additional motivator for the weight loss!
Cheers - it’s one of those blessings in disguise… it isn’t unwearable and it is genuinely the best put-together jacket I’ve ever seen, and not by a small margin. I am very impressed and only slightly disappointed (temporarily). Similar situation was much worse with a Cafe Racer that was only the same size as another on paper - it’s been worn six times since it arrived years ago and might break in but is too much to bother with since it is so heavy. The Thedi might well spur me to finally tame that beast, as well :)

Olive cowhide Thedi arrived yesterday. To put it bluntly, the sizing is off (I’ve lost two kg since I ordered it, which is a sort of blessing, because it would have been smaller on me if I hadn’t). It’s a very well-made jacket and the colour is great, zippers are chunky. The lining is great. Total wait time was three months which I think, considering the beauty of the thing overall, is quite fast.

It’s a good thing I am committed to losing weight and that this will probably fit properly in a month or two. The hide will break in, but I am surprised that the measurements that have resulted in a properly fitting Aero HB and Work Coat (and an SB Klondike) did not result in a jacket that fit, even though I can wear it open until I get down to dimensions that this jacket will accommodate. It’s a bit like bashing your head to fit a helmet: at this expense, I am now sure that I’ve gotten off lightly - this will fit in time, but wouldn’t have done if my dimensions were ones I wanted to keep.

Sorry to hear that, def off in sizing. Did you complete his sizing intake form completely with proper tape measurements? What's odd is its still too small given you've lost nearly 5lbs since placing the order. I would personally ask him to remake it, there are certain dimensions that I'm not sure will go into conformity and alleviate a poor fit even if you drop additional lbs. I think Theo will be understanding but it might take time...

As a reference, I ordered a jacket from him in early late March based on updated dimensions and modification I asked him to make based on the first custom jacket he produced. I've been recovering from a moto accident and have gotten back into a routine and dropped some weight as well and updated him about this in late April or early March. He responded back that it was not too late to make some fit modifications based on this new information and he thanked me for checking in. So do be persistent and update the man as things change so he can make you a product you both can be proud of considering the time, effort and cost that goes into these things.

Good luck.

Beautiful jacket but def looks too small for you. I think you should ask for a refund.

I’m chalking it up to experience and just wore it out in a typhoon. It feels looser is currently drying on me as I attempt to reshape it. I wouldn’t want to repeat the experience with this maker and will just try and shape it to me. The weight loss may help, although I am surprised that they didn’t get this right.
I feel like more companies should go with the Moc up muslin method I did it one time for jl and ever since everything is pretty much dead on I know it can be a pain and adds to the wait time but im insures that you are getting the right fit and that the pattern works for you

It's weird cause it looks good but at the same time I haven't seen a Thedi (or any jacket in general) with those vertical ripples in the zipper. I guess they are due to the jacket not fitting you properly?

Anyway, I'm glad you've emailed Theodoros. You should not bank it on losing weight for it to fit, specially when you've already lost weight since providing the measurements. Plus weight loss is tricky: You may lose 5 or 10 kg and your body is not necessarily going to become slimmer in certain places, potentially leaving you with a jacket that still doesn't fit.

This said, could it be that the way you take your measurements for Aero differ from the way you take them from Theodoros? He had provided this on how to take them when I ordered mine:

Many things are possible - I’d rather send him the jacket back along with an Aero 50s HB that does fit. The back vent on the Thedi puffs out when I put my arms forward in a very noticeable way and it’s clearly too small. I wasn’t sent the form, I just provided the measurements from a recent Aero order.

Anyway, I’ll take it up with the company and I am sure it will be fine. It remains the best-produced jacket I’ve seen or owned: he’s clearly very skilled and I just need it to fit innit. :)

Let's see what he tells you, but when I was talking to him he had told me he didn't like taking references from other jackets.
Yep, I’ve decided that I’ll try to get it remade or refunded - the back vent problem isn’t going to resolve itself. It’s a pity as it really is a fantastic thing. Anyway, I am sure that 95%+ of customers do not have this problem and I have not a bad word to say about the evident quality and workmanship.

I’ll wait for a response and take it from there.

Seems like an unfortunate mixup to me. From everything I’ve seen and heard, Theodoros is one of the best and has great integrity. I’m sure he’ll take care of you.

Have some catching up to do

Just got back from a week traveling back home. Brought this made by @AerGuitar jacket along, wore it pretty much every day just changing out the shirt.

Nothing quite like traveling to remind you it’s ok to be rough on your jacket!

I’ve ordered jackets from Thedi. The general rule is to add a little to your measurements. Especially in the chest and waist. He makes his jackets pretty close to the bone!
