Gabardine makes for such a nice drape and feel in a jacket. Not too heavy not too wimpy. I'm surprised more half belts don't surface vintage or otherwise.

Exactly. The garbadine weave makes for an easy to wear and long lasting fabric. Plus the word itself has an exotic, mystical ring to it.
