Vanson Enfield from the Classifieds. The zipper tape at the bottom has a lot of stress on it when you sit down, from the splay of the jacket. Damage from past use is evident. I used some Fray Check to try and manage it, but I'm wondering how long until I'll need a zipper replacement. View attachment 484814 View attachment 484815

Looks great.

Fray check is awesome and lasts long, but if the zipper/tape is still very stressed, it ain’t forever. Like HM said, two-way is the way. I would go with a Riri. Love the sound and sturdy like YKK. There is a seller on Etsy with all the Riri you can imagine- different size, brass, nickel, tape color, etc.

Tommy Hilfiger jacket with Mallory fedora, pre-1946. The jacket was probably a Goodwill thrift store find. It's peacoat type material.

Thedi Peacoat, with removable shearling vest and antique brass button.

Not today, it was yesterday. Went for a walk for 2 hours on the mountain after 2 days of heavy snow. It was -5C, with wind gust to 30Km/h. Underneath is a long sleeve cotton T-shirt, and an Arthur Beale Beerenberg pullover. It was plenty warm.

After taking off my sports jacket, I decided to try this on to see how the cross-zip with tie combination looked here.

I sometimes feel this jacket is a touch too long, but getting it shortened half an inch at the front and an inch at the back feels like a bit too much of a gamble.

Can't get a better cross zip to do that with, but maybe I am biased... :)

I feel envious when I see yours with its proper length! It’s my fault for not pushing back at Thurston’s standard length, though I think the problem is mostly that their 26” spec goes all around.

Even though I’d prefer the front to be 25-25½", I think the 26” front would be less annoying if the back length were shorter.

Suits you to a “T”. Still speechless that you let go of the black Aero(s), but as an “only jacket” this one would perfectly do the job (and the “Duke”, of course…).
Thanks Tom! For the record I loved the PHWM and 50s halfbelt style but they were very uncomfortable for me to wear any extended time. They were both in CXL horse, the halfbelt was particularly thick. I’ve been thinking about returning to the 50s halfbelt in a lighter hide or even the wool/leather halfbelt

The 618 looks great on you. Hope your kids realize what a hip dad they have!
Hah thanks Dan. Surely they notice I dress differently…have to wonder if they’ll ever think I’m hip or cool lol
