I was watching "East of Eden" recently and saw several examples of that hat. Around WWI?
I try not to put a definitive date on hats Bob. Soon as you do out come the brainiacs to show off. But, no way WW1 on this one. 40’s is pretty accurate, maybe late 30’s?? For early 1900’s, this style, you are prob looking at Stetson Boss Raw Edge type hats. There is a thread for those.

Ps: just to keep on point, wearing this.
Guess it could be called a Proto-Ton.
Be well. Bowen

Colder but still alright here with some rain and precipitation in the air. Picked a brand we don't see much around these parts but it's perfect for days like today riding around the city with waterproof zips and surprisingly good warmth from a chill in the wind.

Abba,
What Hide and color is that café racer? It looks damn near exactly like the Highwayman I just picked up a month ago off of eBay. Beautiful jacket you have there!

So today seemed like a fall afternoon, however setting in for a lot of rain tonight. then it will freeze, and possible get 0.1 or 0.2" of ice by tomorrow morning. Fun times! And just to top it off 5-8" of snow coming after that. May be a weekend of staying in and reading.

For earlier in the day, Duluth Trading flannel lined FireHose Cotton snap-up over-shirt. Size Large Long:

Then, sadly, I admit I had a "fit failure" this last week. I really have liked Boyo's Aero Dustbowl, and watched the evolution of this jacket in the 30-day thread. I had never tried on a Dustbowl, and his is a size 48. I am typically a 44L or even a 42L. I thought it might work for a layering jacket. I am showing images below with a flannel shirt & sweatshirt on, as well as flannel and thick cotton vest.
The images below prove that my idea was simply not correct.

So this was entirely my decision to purchase a jacket 2 sizes too large. Now I am showing the rest of the world (well the FL world anyway) what incorrect sizing really looks like. Actually if I do order a Dustbowl in the future, I may spec a 42.

I do really like the pattern, it's similar to a 30's Half-belt in many respects. I also do really appreciate the Battered Seal horsehide this jacket is constructed of. It is substantially lighter than CXL FQHH or CXL Steer. I would place this large jacket around 4 lbs. It's very flexible and this makes it inherently wearable right away, although watching Boyo's photos over his 30 day break in indicated it did break in quite a bit.

So there you have it. Maybe a laugh or two but in this case it's proven to be a good way to test out a few things I had not tried before. Learn from my mistakes, and enjoy the hunt. Have a great weekend! :)

Thanks man. It’s Aero’s Aged Steer i believe. @ton312 would know better as it’s one of his via another lounger. It has an orangish tone to it. Not one i’ve seen before.

I'd Even say that pattern does not lend itself especially for layering as it is so short. I'd say that size in a slightly slim er pattern and a 27 length could look really good.
