What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

German weather is officially picking a fight with me; jumping from 20+°C and too warm to wear leather to 5°C and too cold to wear leather with no inbetween. None of my leathers is lined thick enough to handle that; only option rn is Carhartt Fleece Lined Hoodie with Vanson Dakota on top of it but that makes me look like a ballon so there's that. Looking at Vanson Chopper right now in the hope Vansons quilted lining can keep me warm at these temperatures. @ton312 Can it?

Time to move to another place I think, somewhere that has 10-15°C 300 days of the year. Suggestions?
That is Vansons competition weight leather. Probably an older batch though, a jacket ordered new from Vanson would look similar but not identical. There was a thread about variations in Vansons comp weight leather ok the frontpage just a day or two ago, look it up to see pictures of differences between comp weight leather from batch to batch.

Yeah, all this fuss about “jacket-weather” ignores the fact that CXL-HH is either too warm, even with just a T-Shirt or too cold, even when layering up big-time...;)
I just wear my jackets stubbornly nevertheless. My wife has long since stopped commenting.

Thanks much!

I do have a Vanson Chopper from ca. 2016. It’s a great jacket, a true beast, but I don’t much care for the leather. As many have commented, it has a shiny, plastic-like appearance which does not seem to get much different with (hard!!) wear.

I guess, I do need to handle more pieces to see if this is just an issue of a specific batch or simply the finish that Vanson uses for their Comp. weight these days.

Raining cats and dogs all day. Perfect to help the break-in. Sorry for the lousy quality photos. Even with better lighting, it’s really hard to capture the true colour of this midnight- blue CXL.

I believe it can!! My model E’s with a thin hoody underneath were serviceable for most of the Chicago winter! But the one thing they had that the chopper doesn’t is a snap of faux mouton collar. When you flip that puppy up the face cracking wind is rendered powerless.

Wise words of wisdom Sensei.

Just this am. Had the opportunity to sport the j106. Feels great to be back in cross zip country! @gtrplyr here is your jacket 3.5 years later. I’ve noticed the dreaded front crease (DFC) follows the inner leather facing perfectly. My expert opinion is that it is the thin liner that causes this phenomenon, not the hanger.
My next scientific discovery will be focused squarely on removing bacon grease from a Cubs shirt.

A thread on this would be appreciated if time allows. I really like that jacket and would love to know more!
I will try to put one together Ton, I agree that this is a really neat jacket that deserves a bit more attention. The pattern is trim with higher armholes than my other Vanson jackets which makes for a nice clean fit.

Top of sleeve zips are awesome and I can see a bit of the blanket(?) liner peeking out of the coin pocket. Love that detail.
