It looks great, I have a half belt and wished I had a little more room in the back like yours. Didn’t realize how sharp it looks with the collar up! Curious what are the measurements?

The measurement is:

P2P: 20.75
Shoulders: 17
Top to bottom Length: 23.75
Sleeves: 24.75

My purchase was based on measurements from the custom Aero Ridley, my Schott 613SH, Schott 641e, and Vanson Comet. Did about 5 minutes of data crunching and then hit the Buy Button.

Thanks. Being that this HB is not a custom order, the fit is pure luck. (I’ve placed more effort into custom measurement and communication with Carrie [at Thurston Bros.] than the drunken 5-minute data crunching for this off-the-rack Blue Label HB for half the price.)

I have a question to ask the group: while I’m awaiting my custom Vicenza Aero Ridley, I picked up (“blind” and on a total whim) a Blue Label Aero 30s Half Belt in horse hide (off the rack at Aeros). I was hoping the fit would be passible; knowing the traditional cut is short for the HB, I had hoped the length would end slightly below the belt buckle and the sleeves about an inch above the thumb’s first knuckle. When zipped, the bottom hem is perfect and the jacket is comfortable. The purchase a was shot in the dark for fit because I couldn’t resist the amazing price for this Blue Label HB in HH... but, do you think it is a good match for my frame of 5’8”?

Congratulations. You have bought a beautiful jacket, and it has a perfect fit. Back length is perfect and the same sleeeves lenght.
I think this is a 1950 Half Belt STF, since the back is without yoke, and back pleates over half belt are sewn in two points, instead of four.
It looks like a custom made jacket, since it fits you perfectly (at least with the zip open!).
Regarding the fact that, historically, these jackets are short, I think that fashion was different at the time, characterized by pants that reached the armpits in the thirties. Common sense should lead us to understand that it is better to have a historically incorrect jacket, of the right length, rather than a historically correct one, which leaves the navel uncovered.
Obviously this is my subjective opinion: the jacket or any dress we wear is the right size when we feel it right.

Haha, quite the difference to my experience. I took a walk today with only a cotton flannel shirt and cotton lined jacket. It’s +3 C outside in Stockholm today. Didn’t feel cold, it was only a 20 minute walk. Had I been outside longer I would have wanted something a bit warmer though.

EhEh but You are certainly of Viking lineage unlike me that I am small and fragile.
Obviously the perception of temperature depends on the latitude in which one is used to living.
Anyway, for me the winter is 1000 times better than the summer: at least we can defend ourselves from the cold wearing beautiful jackets

I'm with you vezio. I could care less that some jackets are ' supposed to be ' outrageously short to be historically correct. I have my custom jackets made to wear with any of my pants or jeans and cover my belt. I don't care to wear my belt up to my naval and I like to rotate my jackets wearing any clothing I have ( or try to ) but I don't wear low rise pants or low cut jeans. However, I am guilty of more than likely grabbing a most favorite.

I understand ocd on custom fit, i really do, but sometimes so,e people are just off the rack. I recently purchased a Vanson model B. Stock sizing. Wouldn't change a mm if i could for free.

Thanks for the correction—I’ll take a 50s HB just as happily; I’m new to the HB family. And you’re right, it is an STF (super tight fit). I like the arm holes being higher and appreciate the two-pleat feature. And, yes, I’ll agree that a jacket is right when it feels right... whether or not it’s historically proper.

I really have to say that I love this jacket; you wear it well.

Also, that pattern reminds me of the seat cover material on an AMC Hornet my dad used to own!

My brand new Buzz Rickson's (American Pad & Textile Company) L-2 arrived today, and it's awesome. Absolutely love it. At 6 foot 3, this is pretty much the perfect fit on me. I've been searching for the perfect nylon bomber for a while and this is pretty much it! I will post a full review in the coming days with some better photos
